When my son and I had to use our local foodbank, plain eco products were completely unattainable for us, let alone ones with beautiful designs. From that awful situation, my business was born. And I believe that everyone should have access to my products.

I take great pride in the quality of materials I use and make every item myself. And I love choosing fabrics!

Each set contains a tea towel, a Scrubbie and a sponge (made with a repurposed sheep's wool lining) but I can do a vegan set with two Scrubbies instead of the sponge, just drop me a message when you order.

I have three Uni assignments due in February but gladly took a break from calculating river braiding indexes and sinuosity this evening to rustle up this batch of Scrubbies ready for tomorrow.
Every year (think this is my 4th year), I head over to the local University in to chat to the new class of Social Enterprise students about my Scrubbies journey and running a business with a heart. It's one of my favourite days of the year and I hope they never stop inviting me.
Of course, I always bring free Scrubbies to hand out so they don't heckle me!

I've been tinkering around and created some prototype gift sets. Each one contains a large tea towel, a Scrubbie and a soft sponge lined with repurposed sheep's wool.
I love bold print and this wave one looks incredible.

One of the main things for me as a business is to figure out retail and wholesale pricing that allows me to use the very best materials (organic and compostable) but balances affordability.

Immersed myself today in some incredible citizen science with the which involves regular people, like me, identifying aquatic invertebrates from monthly sampling at set locations on our local river. Along with their water monitoring, this vital project tracks the fluctuations in different species in order to better manage our natural waterways and improve native wildlife.

They're setting up a similar project in so check out their page and look at all the different projects you can get involved in.

Please don't kill aphids in your garden. These beauties are a small selection of the 200+ species of hoverfly larvae you may find in your garden that feed solely on your aphids. The adults search out aphid-infested plants to lay their eggs on and a single larvae will clear an epic amount of aphids!

If you find aphids in your garden, keep watch and you'll see some of these killer larvae on there pretty quickly! Many of them pupate inside the plants too so if you trim back the garden, just place all the waste to one side and let it break down so the insects survive.

This is the first year I've seen the insect graphs (from data collected by people like me) look terrifying, after a few worrying years. The parasitic species seem to be flourishing while the pollinators are being obliterated.

Don't use weedkiller, keep your garden waste and don't spray aphids...please.

I don't often eat avocados but if I do, I try every time to get the seed to grow. Jabbing in toothpicks which fall out as the slimy stuff forms....always a disaster for me.

Finally success!

If, like me, you are a bit of a 'bodge-it' gardener, try this method of using a piece of old cardboard cut into a ring then fold and tape (or peg it if you want to avoid the plastic waste) into a concave ring. Make sure the hole is just big enough to fit the bum of the avocado stone through. Place it onto a container filled with water and wait. It can take weeks.

Replace the water fairly regularly.

Even though our climate is unlikely to yield fresh avocados, they still make lovely plants.

I get immense pleasure finding hoverfly larvae on my veggie plants!
Move over ladybirds, these beauties will clear your aphids in no time (so please don't kill them).
If you use pesticides, it's the vital species like these that suffer, which are then eaten by birds. The larvae will not eat your plants, they just eat the aphids then the adult hoverfly will pollinate your plants. Marvellous.
