"One from the vaults . . . " - the slightly naive set of Tarot Trumps and back design I created while at University some 30 years ago. Circa 1994-97

Known in most modern decks as 'The Lovers', the earliest title of this Tarot Trump - as found in the 15th Century manuscript 'Sermones De Ludo Cum Aliis' - is simply 'L'Amore', or 'Love'. Typically interpreted as a card of choice, it is more obviously a card of romance and erotica - Eros or Cupid is, after all, the only constant in pre-1900 versions. La Morte - aka Death or simply 'The 13th'. One of the most feared Tarot Trumps and usually interpreted as a card of new beginnings though I prefer to keep that for The Fool and look at Death as being very much a card of endings. People tell you it's not a card of physical death though it has certainly turned up in my spreads both before and after bereavement. A bit of nostalgia for the weekend - back in its 1980s heyday, 'Prediction' magazine was very much the mainstream portal to the then-shadowy world of Divination and Magic, offering wide ranging articles and adverts for booksellers including the Atlantis Bookshop, Caduceus, Magis, Occultique, and Mysteries. So popular was the title that they even produced an annual for some years, issued their own branded Tarot deck and a series of popular esoteric guidebooks. Enjoy this walk down Memory Lane with some covers from the magazine's golden years . . .
