I love a scented candle, I find they bring a little calm to what can be a very chaotic little cottage. It’s definitely getting a little milder isn’t it? Do you think Spring is finally on the way? I for one have had enough of the rain 🌧️

If you want to at least pretend the sun is shining, and the doors are open onto the garden, then Potager might be for you. It’s a beautiful Spring scent evoking fresh greenhouse notes. Bringing the garden indoors, with notes of tomato leaf, honeysuckle and melon.

I’m also trialling a new scent at the moment. I was planning it for an Autumn launch but I’m not sure if I can wait! It has top notes of thyme, lavender, and rose with a background of orange, orris, cedarwood, amber, vanilla, and patchouli. It’s complex but just stunning.

It’s been a while, and we’ve had some lovely new followers so here’s a little introduction.

This is me Nicky, with our namesake Finn. Our lovely, now 13 year old boy. We started this little business from our studio by the river in Shepperton in 2019, hence the Willow element due to our Willow tree in our garden.

The business grew out of making natural candles for myself to avoid burning paraffin wax candles due to my suffering asthma (I’m a serious candle lover so burn a candle every day, all year round!) And to ease anxiety with the loss of both my parents quite suddenly. And generally my love of perfumery and aromatherapy, being a massage therapist I wanted to make my clients more supportive blends and candles for wellness.

We grew very quickly over lockdown, and opened a small shop locally. We built our candle collection further and Finn blended one of our best selling candles today - Magical Midnight Forest - he’s a natural perfumer!

After 3 years in our shop, we decided to move to the high street but the lease fell through. It could have been the best thing that could have happened to us, it made us step off the treadmill and really think about what we wanted to do. Although it didn’t feel like it at the time!

I had wanted to offer something more sustainable for some time. We had the time to focus finally. We launched our refillable candles in July 2023.

We now are a small team of 4, and we create refillable candles with bespoke scents and beautiful glass reusable vessels made locally in Surrey. We make candles for other brands, and sell to lots of shops across the UK. We make around 200 or more candles a week, as well as lots of tealights, diffusers and wax melts. Plus a newly created botanical wellness range of bath salts and creams.

I have to pinch myself every day, that after a 20 year corporate career with lots of side hustles that I get to do this for a job. If you’re thinking about doing something different, go for it, you’ll never know until you try 🌿
