We are thrilled to announce that the amazing kitchen team has been awarded a 5-star rating by Environmental Health N. Somerset following their inspection on Wednesday! 👏

In the picture, you'll see our talented Head Chef Malcolm and Kitchen Assistant Arjon. Also part of our dedicated kitchen team are 2nd Chef Jay and Kitchen Assistant Modestas.

Great nutrition is a key to ARBD recovery. Today, Malcolm has gone the extra mile, preparing some delicious dishes to celebrate this fantastic achievement. His leadership and culinary skills ensure our kitchen runs smoothly and residents enjoy top-quality meals every day.

The residents at Campania ARBD Care Home had such a fantastic time on their trip to the West Midlands Safari Park back in May that they just couldn't stay away for long! 🌳🦁

They recently went back for another great trip to see the tigers, giraffes, camels, zebras, and so much more wildlife. 🐅🦒🐪🦓

Our care homes are cheering on the Three Lions as they kick off against the Netherlands in the Semi-Finals of the Euros 2024.

Amazing Achievement Alert! 🏃‍♂️🎉

On Saturday 15th June at 7:50 AM, Jay stood astride the Brecon Beacons and embarked on a gruelling 26-mile marathon over 3000ft hills, rivers, and fences to take part in the !
Facing the unexpected challenge of rain, gales, and even hail (yes, in Wales!), Jay powered through and completed the race in an impressive 7 hours and 32 minutes! 🕰️

Serenita ARBD Care Home made the most of last week's glorious sunshine by hosting a fantastic BBQ in their garden! Residents and staff came together to enjoy delicious food, great company, and the warm weather. 🌞

The garden was alive with the aroma of sizzling burgers and the sound of cheerful conversations. A special thank you to our amazing team for organising the BBQ. Here's to more sunny days and happy memories! 🌻

What is Korsakoff Syndrome?

Korsakoff syndrome or Wernicke-Korsakoff syndrome is the most well-known form of Alcohol-Related Brain Damage (ARBD).

It is a brain disorder commonly associated with a long period of continuous heavy drinking, attributed by a lack of vitamin B1.

Symptoms include:
- Difficulty taking on board new information and learning new skills
- Apathy or repetitive behaviours
- Sensory problems
- An unsteady gate
- Double vision
- Memory gaps

It was incredible for residents and staff to see the animals close, including the lions, zebra, and rhinos.

They also heard a fascinating talk on the penguins, learning more about the park’s remarkable conservation work!

It's not about the score, but the joy of playing the game together. Residents at Serenita ARBD hit the lanes for a morning of fun and friendly competition.

But the excitement didn't end there!

✨🎶 As the evening rolled in, we were treated to a special performance by local entertainer, Kathy. Her lively tunes had us all on our feet dancing! 🎵💃

🌟 Guess who had a blast at the disco this week? Serenita ARBD residents hit the dance floor with the fabulous Disco Queen Kathy! 💃 They turned up the retro vibes with an Eighties Music Bingo session and had a blast hitting around a blow-up Rubik's Cube!

Today is World Head Injury Awareness Day, a day to remind us on how we could reduce accidents and brain injuries if we are mindful.

Did you know if you are bald you are less likely to injure your head?

The lack of hair provides direct contact between the scalp and external surfaces. This increased sensory awareness can make individuals more conscious of their head's proximity to objects, helping them avoid accidental bumps.

Here are some other great reasons to embrace your baldness (as if you needed anymore reasons for looking so good).

It's all part of our three-step enablement program, designed to boost confidence and nurture vital abilities like cooking. Seeing them shine in the kitchen is fantastic! 🍕🌟

🌟 Serenita ARBD Care Home residents had a blast at their Tuesday Life Skills Group! They ventured to the Inspire group at St. Paul's Church and got creative with some amazing Superman and Wonder Woman portraits. 🦸♂️🦸♀️
The group is a safe, supportive environment in which to learn new skills, rebuild confidence and become part of the community.
