Ovis Yarns

Ovis Yarns

Creating art in yarn form - Hand dyed British wool yarn - dyed in our small dye studio in Merseyside.

Ovis is closing December 2022 - Becky is no longer dyeing updates - The only way to get Ovis yarns is to sign up to clubs or the final Geekmas! Clubs ship monthly and Geekmas: Child of the 90s will ship October 2022.

Hello strangers 😅 I've been working on getting my crafty mojo back while on holiday this week... My daily crochet squares fell by the wayside back in April... So lots to catch up on! I've made great headway though and between bouts of sea swimming, paddle boarding, board games and reading I've managed to cram 30 squares into a week! Anyone else working on blankets ATM?

At the start of the week I shipped the final Goodbye bags - June was a hard slog, with looking after loved ones, awaiting a start date for my new role, and making hundreds and hundreds of minis...

I can only apologise to those who had delays in receiving their orders... I worked out I had enough yarn to make 40 bags... I thought that they would sell over the month of June... But you all blew me away and they sold out in 2 days and suddenly I was faced with 800 minis to make 😱

I updated the website this week to reflect that the only items available now are clubs and Geekmas boxes...

I start my new role at the end of the month and I'll be gradually updating my socials to reflect the changes in the business... I'll be here... But only posting about my makes and blankets ❤️

Our Story

Opened in 2015 by Becky, a geek with a love of fine yarn and abstract art - Ovis Yarns was born from a need to knit with yarns that reflected the abstract bold colours I was using in other areas of my creative life, while also using ethically and locally sourced products. I create high quality contemporary British yarns, in colours to lift your soul.

I am passionate about knowing where my yarn is from, and making sure that it supports the British farming and manufacturing industries. All of our yarns are processed and spun in the UK, and all wool is sourced from UK flocks*.

*Merino bases - which are sourced from the Falkland Islands are British wool, not sourced from the UK mainland.
