We would like to congratulate Ambulance Care Assistants, Lynn and Paul on their big day!

Both are dedicated and loved members of our team, and we are glad they could celebrate their day with family and friends around them (and even the ambulance they met on!)

Armed forces day falls on the last Saturday each June, and provides the opportunity to show pride in our armed forces and the people who are, or have been a part of them.

We are proud to be signatories of the Armed Forces Convent and holding a silver employer recognition award. We employer a number of veterans and reservists from all forces and are proud they are part of our team.

Thank you for everything you do.

We regularly receive feedback from our patients, relatives, other agencies and professionals about our services and those providing them!

This feedback was sent in to us following a journey with one of our Patient Transport crews providing a repatriation transfer, following a difficult experience for a local family we were proud to be able to offer our support.

Ambulance Care Assistants Maddie and James assisted in this journey helping to bring a family closer to home.

Whether providing our patient transport, emergency ambulance services or event medical services, all of our staff aim to provide the highest standards of care.

If you have had an encounter with one of our crews and wish to leave feedback, we would love to hear from you!

While all gave some, some gave all.

Today we remember and pay our respects for the 80 year anniversary of the D-Day landings, the largest seaborne invasion in history which took the life or injured over 425,000.

We Will Remember Them.

Do you knit? Have you heard of a Twiddle M**f?

They are knitted tubes with items attached to provide comfort, and reassurance and help relieve stress. They are popular and beneficial for a range of ages providing a wonderful source of visual, tactile and sensory stimulation. In particular, the elderly generation including those with dementia who often have restless hands can find great comfort in these.

Sensory stimulation not only brings enjoyment but can fight anxiety and allow a patient to adapt to environmental changes therefore, we are hoping that volunteers will come forward to put their knitting skills to good use to help us create these comforters so we can provide them to our patients on our ambulances to provide them comfort on their journeys with us.

If you would like further information, please contact:
01388 317999
[email protected]

If you would like to make and donate twiddle m**fs we have two drop-off locations one in Chilton (County Durham) and another in Washington (Tyne and Wear), or can collect in the local areas to these locations.

Here is some feedback from one of our paramedics:
"I gave a patient one of the fiddle m**fs and her face lit up! She was absolutely over the moon with it and forgot all about her worries! When we got to hospital we saw the patient's son and I told him that we had given her a fiddle m**f and it was hers to keep and take home with her and he was so grateful and thought if was a fantastic idea!"

Twiddle M**fs Instruction Sheet

1. Materials
This m**f pattern is perfect for using up left over and odd balls of
wool.
Needles: 8mm circular or 6.5mm straight needles.

2. Directions
Cuff: Cast on 45 stitches using 2 strands of double knitting wool or
1 strand of chunky wool (one plain colour works best). Work in
stocking stitch (knit a row, purl a row) for 11 inches. M**f Body:
Continue with stocking stitch, but use up oddments of various
textures of wool such as chunky, mohair, ribbon etc. until the work
measures 23 inches (two strands of double knit for two rows each
gives a lovely assortment of colours). Cast off.

3. Finishing
If working with straight needles, lightly iron the long strip, then
neatly join the sides together using edge to edge stitch (with the
knit side facing out)
Turn inside out and push the one-colour cuff up inside the m**f
body
Sew the two ends together, again using a neat edge to edge
stitch.

4. Decoration
Now is the time if you want to decorate the m**f, inside and out,
with ribbons, beads, flowers, zips, loops, pompoms, buttons, etc.
Knit a separate pocket for a favourite photo or a hanky. Be
creative, but make sure each item is securely attached.
