Minima Music
Live Silent Film Accompaniments. Contemporary Film Scores. Minima were established in 2006 exclusively to compose and perform live soundtracks for silent film.
Using electric guitar, bass, cello and drums, the band perform totally live with no pre-recorded music. Minima perform to a very broad range of audiences and at venues such as The Barbican, the Edinburgh Fringe, the Picturehouse chain of cinemas, BFI Southbank and the East End Film Festival as well as music festivals; The Big Chill, Latitude and Green Man. The bands also programme Masterclasses in silent film accompaniment and score soundtracks for contemporary independent filmmakers.
We had our final show of 2023 last night at the fantastic King's Lynn Festival. Thanks to all the audiences, venues and promotors for another great year. We'll be back in 2024, with more shows and new releases. More details to follow, on our socials and website: https://minimamusic.co.uk

We had a fantastic weekend of shows at Tamworth Castle and with The Cabinet of Dr Caligari and Nosferatu. ℹ️Made in the aftermath of the First World War, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari is the quintessential German Expressionist film masterpiece. Robert Wiene’s distorted sets, sinister shadows and unnerving characters creating a paranoid, unreal world at a time of despair throughout Europe.
Minima are a Bristol-based four-piece group specialising in live accompaniment to screenings of silent films since 2006. Their instrumentation includes cello, double bass, guitars, dulcimer, synthesizer and drum kit, creating an uncompromising and unique live sound.
