Any knitters in Derby that would like to help 🧶

We are asking if there are any keen knitters who'd be willing to help us by lovingly making blankets for our patients who receive care on our Intensive Care Units (ICU). Blankets will be provided to our patients who may be in their last few days life to make the hospital setting much more homely. The blankets will then be offered to relatives or loved ones to keep, as comfort.

Blankets need to be approx 2ft x 3ft and can be any colour and nice and soft - any donations would be greatly received.

Please bring your blankets to the main reception areas at Royal Derby Hospital and Queen's Hospital Burton for collection. If you require any further information, please email [email protected]

So I haven’t posted on here for a while but I did say I would update everyone with our new arrival 💙

Finley George John Abbey made a very fast entrance into the world on Saturday 16th September weighing 8lb 10. He has one very proud sister and we are all currently loving our new born bubble.
I hope everyone is well and still making some fabulous creations 💙💗

Anything we had left over from closing down we donated to this amazing lady and Nottingham city’s teenager cancer ward. I had literally said the day before this lady messaged me that I didn’t know what to do with anything we had left as I couldn’t bare to throw it away and then along came Gail and a sign that this was just meant to be for me.
She is now trying raise as much money as possible to save her very brave daughter. I know how hard things are but if you can spare anything please help this family. She is also looking for any dvds or books that people no longer want and wish to donate. If local she has said she will collect too 💗

Where do I start?! It’s been an emotional day. 😢
We have finally closed the doors of Hook & Eye for the last time today after emptying our unit.
The past few weeks since I announced the closure have been nothing but whirlwind of kindness, love and support from all of my customers, old and new.
I can’t lie, today has been tough. Seeing the old shop units that stored some of our stock being taken away to the tip really brought closure and a reality to the situation, but I know that I have done the right thing. I now have more time and energy to put into family life with Darcey, Ash and our new little addition arriving in September!!
I want to thank each and every customer that I have had over the past 3 years! You really have made this adventure so worthwhile.
Although this really is goodbye, I do hope that you all continue to create all of the amazing projects that you have kindly asked us to help you with! Although we were an online business, it feels like we have got to know most of you over the 3 years. Your support throughout everything we have done has just been incredible and you are the reason I felt able to carry on my Dads legacy when we lost him 3 years ago ❤️

So today is the day! The start of our closing down weekend 🥹 We will be starting at 10 o’clock. Everything is very cheap. My Dad would going mad at how cheap everything is 🤦🏼‍♀️😂 (sorry Dad).

Sorry for being so quiet again over the last few weeks. I have been (and still am) pretty poorly. Rather fed up of being poorly now.
We have now organised our final closing down online market 😢. It will be taking place over the weekend of 4th and 5th March on Facebook. Search for the Facebook group ‘Hook & Eye CLOSING DOWN SALE Saturday 4th & 5th March’ request to join and let’s make our final sale weekend the best one yet. I will also put the link in the comments.
The weekend will be any wool that is left, patterns, buttons, haberdashery and lots more. Everything must go and will be at bargain prices.

I am honestly completely lost for words 🥹🥹 I am completely overwhelmed by your messages and support. I can’t even read some of them so please don’t think I’m being rude or ungrateful for them.
The amount of orders I’ve had in the last 12 hours has just been crazy so please do bare with me whilst I get them all sorted 🥹

Some of you may have noticed that all of the prices on the website have been reduced. Unfortunately, this is not just a January sale!

I have taken the heart breaking decision to close down Hook & Eye for good after 3 years. This has not been a light-hearted decision in any sorts and in some part I feel that I have failed in what I set out to do. But, being realistic, this is something that I have to do for many different reasons.

I have LOVED getting to ‘meet’ new customers as we moved online, sharing our stories as a family and engaging with you all, but I feel that now is the time to call it a day.

But have no fear, this isn’t going to happen over night! We have A LOT of stock to get rid of. We will be having a final clearance market in the next month or so (looking at the beginning of March) and then we are looking at closing at the end of March, so you have 2 and a half months to stock your stashes up before we finally have to say ‘Goodbye’

Honestly cannot thank everybody enough who has supported me and my family through everything ❤️

Brighten up somebody’s Sunday - tag away!

Derby Royal Hospital labour ward are in need of knitted baby cardigans. In newborn or premature size. I think any colour and any pattern is fine (just waiting to hear back from the lady with confirmation of this). If anybody has any or would like to knit any to donate these will be greatly received 🙏🏻

All our Christmas crafts have now been reduced to clear. We are still posting out but please think about which post service you select if you do want it before Christmas.
