And what would we be without our INCREDIBLE team of volunteers. There might not be many of us and it might be chaotic at times (always) but my goodness we do alright considering!!

Last night, NCL Contractors had the privilege of attending the 20th Norfolk Property Dinner hosted by the Norwich Forum for the Construction Industry. Our thanks to our esteemed guests and the exceptional company of Pinnacle Consulting Engineers Ltd.

Special thanks to the NFCI team for putting on a wonderful event.

In early September, we proudly completed the refurbishment of the new Jane Austen sixth form building at Guildhall in Norwich. This beautifully renovated facility now offers 300 essential sixth form spaces. Collaborating with the Inspiration Trust and Ingleton Wood has been a rewarding experience throughout this project. A big thank you to our dedicated site team and supply chain, who overcame various challenges posed by the historical nature of the building and city centre location, ensuring it was ready to welcome students at the start of the academic year.

NCL Contractors achieved Practical Completion earlier this week on our office project for Fairfax and Favor.

The project comprises of 600m2 of new office and welfare space, over two storeys for the warehouse staff and managers. A new sewage treatment plant and drainage field was also constructed.

The Client is delighted with their new office space and NCL would like to thank our site team and supply chain for achieving practical completion on time, on budget and to such a high standard of finish.

NCL Contractors are in their second week on site at Aurora Redehall school in Surrey, where they are finalising the external works following the completion of a new modular school building. Works include new drainage, elevated access paths, surface finishes, external lighting, new fencing and general landscaping. Thanks to all involved for the great progress to date.

Great to see this 2,000m2 warehouse and office nearing completion in Downham Market. A well managed project and a high quality build throughout. The client is delighted with progress and can't wait to move in! Well done to everyone involved in the project.

A month of recognition for our commitments to health, safety, and compliance. We are proud to share our accreditations awarded for CHAS and Constructionline. NCL’s continued delivery of safely run projects is at the heart of the company ethos.

Groundworks have finally commenced on our refurbishment project for the Aurora Group PLC in Wilmslow, where we are converting a former nursery school into a SEN school. We have been waiting for the planning approval to be discharged and have been ‘itching’ to make progress with the external works the past few weeks. Approval was finally received allowing the machinery to move in, internal works have been progressing well and we look forward to delivering the project to our client in November 2022.

It's been a busy summer so far for NCL and our supply chain partners, two examples of this are:

Fairfax and Favor’s new office in Snetterton:
Great progress being made this summer at Fairfax and Favor’s new office in Snetterton, our thanks go out to the site team and our supply chain. NCL are constructing the two-storey office within Fairfax and Favor’s live warehouse. The office will provide 600m2 of useable space, allowing for offices, meeting rooms, break out spaces, kitchenettes and toilet facilities.

Elite Sports Group warehouse at Downham Market:
NCL are working closely with Network Rail to construct a new 2,000m2 warehouse for Elite Sports Group (brand partners of Hummel) at Downham Market. One of the main challenges NCL has been tasked with, is to liaise directly with Network Rail, gaining design and construction methodology approval prior to the superstructure works commencing. The works are progressing well and we would like to thank our site team and supply chain for their continued efforts, scoring an excellent 10/10 on the latest Network Rail audit.

Hillside Avenue Primary & Nursery School - The construction of a new covered walkway.

We were fortunate to be awarded the second phase of this project after completing the initial phase last summer.
Construction is well underway and we are making good progress despite the hot weather.
The steel framework has been installed and the aluminium windows and doors are being fitted.
Early procurement is the key to keeping this fast track project on programme.

Tombland Norwich - Structural Works
A complex project involving temporary works by NCL and permanent structural design by Brown & Co to ensure this iconic building in the heart of Norwich is preserved for the future.

Well done to the team on the successful completion of the new extensions at Motus Van and Truck Mercedes Benz in Thurrock. The new parts store, workshop pit lanes and authorised test facility lane are all being put to good use by the depot.

What a super day spent at High Lodge in Suffolk for NCL Contractors clay pigeon shooting event. Thanks to all the guests for taking time out of busy work schedules to join us and to the resident professionals for their excellent and patient tuition. Well done to Chris Belton of Archway Building Consultancy who proved to be ‘Top Gun’ on the day and picked up the trophy.

NCL making a splash…………

NCL Contractors Ltd are pleased to share that they have commenced works to refurbish the existing swimming pool at The Aurora Eccles School near Quidenham, Norfolk.

Works include replacing the existing roof structure with integrated PV panels, external wall insulation, new LED lighting, general upgrading of the interior decor and facilities.

Works due to complete early September 2022.

NCL Contractors Ltd are pleased to share that they have been awarded the contract to convert and refurbish The Cedars (a former care facility) in Wolverhampton to form a new SEN school for the Aurora Group. A beautiful blue sky in the Midlands today for the inaugural pre-commencement meeting. Works commence shortly and the NCL team are busy preparing for the challenge.

Final site meeting/inspection today in advance of handover of Aurora Fairways where NCL have been converting the former St Ives golf club house into a SEN school for the Aurora Group. A fantastic team effort in the true sense of collaboration from all the stakeholders and NCL's site team. A few things to complete next week but the building is looking fantastic inside. Thanks to the Aurora Group team, Archway Building Consultancy and Egg Architects. A real pleasure working with everyone!!

Works have commenced at 1 Prince of Wales for Bidwells. No, you aren't reading the same post, just another project for returning client Bidwells. Works are continuing well on our second project here, we are always proud when receiving repeat business.

NCL Contractors Ltd are pleased to share the completion of two pilot bin stores/porches at Ambridge Grove in Milton Keynes for Optivo Housing Association. The designs are quite innovative, using sustainable recycled materials, providing longevity and a maintenance free solution. Opitvo will now roll these designs out across the Ambridge Grove estate and we look forward to working with them on the next phase.

21 Meridian Way, Norwich

Successful completion of a refurbishment/remodelling project of an old HSBC bank back into office space.

The works included removal of existing kitchenettes, partitions, ceilings and services. The new office space was redecorated throughout, with new installations of LED lighting, ceilings and flooring. Existing sliding doors were replaced with new windows to match the original ones and a new entrance door with fully integrated intercom and keyless entry system. The project was finished on budget, on time and to our usual high standard.

Starting the week as we mean to go on. NCL are delighted to have been awarded the refurbishment and remodel of Hellesdon High Sixth Form for the Wensum Trust and S2E Project Managers.

Midweek transformation! Restoration of a neglected coach house, which was being used as a garage. This building is now being converted into a beautiful 2 bedroom Coach House.

The external façade has been lovingly restored to it’s former glory with new double glazed sash windows and masonry repairs.

A well deserved make-over continues inside where works are continuing the high standard of finish.

A busy week for NCL with the construction of the new Nursery Building at St Michaels C of E VA Primary & Nursery School completing. NCL have now handed this project back to the school as a welcome addition to their facilities.



Despite the construction industries difficulties in procurement and labour resources, NCL and it's sub-contractors have continued to push progress on this project to achieve completion.

Well-done to NCL’s management and site delivery team and to Billy Watson the site manager for continuously working hard to deliver this project to such a high standard.

We are also pleased to announce that we will be working again with Bidwells LLP at 1 Prince of Wales, Norwich. We have been awarded an internal remodel and refurbishment scheme comprising of works to the reception and ground floor of this prestigious Norwich building.
