ACNE
Statistics show that 90% of the world's population will be affected by acne at some point in their
life, making it the most common skin disorder. There are many different forms of acne; blackheads,
whiteheads, papules, pustules, nodules and cysts.

Regardless of the type, all forms of acne are caused by the blockage of a hair follicle, either from
inside the hair follicle through an overproduction and build-up of sebum and dead skin cells, or from
outside the hair follicle when substances such as makeup, sweat and excess sebum enter the
follicle's opening. These blockages can then attract bacteria which lead to inflammation and redness.
There are many degrees of severity when it comes to acne, from the occasional monthly spot to
severe acne that needs treatment from a dermatologist.

When it comes to skincare, there are three main focuses for acne-prone skin. These include proper
cleansing to start, exfoliation to help unblock hair follicles and lastly, hydrating the skin. Hydration
is important because the more hydrated your skin, the less your skin needs to produce sebum that
can lead to breakouts. The reverse is also true, which is why often those who are prone to breakouts
will also have oily but dehydrated skin.

For mild to moderate acne, here's what we recommend for your customers:
1. Double cleanse with our Smoothing Cleanser and Bamboo Face Cloth followed by Clear Skies
or Clear Slate.
2. Exfoliate daily to twice daily with Ocean Dive on the specific areas of the face that are prone
to breakouts, dabbing a cotton pad on larger areas or using our Bamboo Buds on more
precise areas.
3. Use Clear Skin Mask a few times a week to draw out excess oils trapped deep in the pores.
4. And finally, Pure Lagoon on targeted areas to hydrate, reduce sebum production and to
optimise the skin's microbiome.
