Here’s a recently completed 2-storey rear extension to a detached home in Walkley. Like many of these stone built ‘villa’ type properties in Walkley, the house is wide and built upto the pavement, but only one room deep, but with side access to a large rear garden plot.
We made changes and improvements to the internal layout on this one at ground and first floors, adding a new entrance lobby and a double storey rear extension. Structural alterations opened rooms up to make everything work better and flood the house and circulation zones with natural light.
It has a large south facing garden plot which the clients are currently developing into their garden and wildlife heaven!
Some views of the final kitchen-dinner design and interior on the first of one of our larger Dore projects starting on-site this month, thanks to
Interior views of our split-level Carterknowle extension project 🌟
Planning granted ☑️ ….for this split level rear extension to a semi-detached home in Carterknowle, S7.
Large, south-east facing windows and doors flood the new lower level dining/living area and upper level kitchen with sunlight. The extension will have an exposed roof structure and colourful exposed steelwork defining the whole extension area. Looking forward to seeing this one start on-site!
Photos of a recently completed extension and renovation of a detached Victorian home in Nether Edge.
The approach and client brief was to sympathetically extend, reconfigure and renovate, whilst maximising daylight and improving the connection to the garden.
Hopefully the result speaks for itself. It was a great collaboration to be in involved in; between us, our clients and a great builder 🤓 👨👨👦👷🏻
Some new photos in of a very effective full width single storey rear extension on this semi-detached home in Nether Edge.
The roof form, window types and positions all respond to a north-facing elevation and upward sloping garden; the apex window provides views up the garden and the dual pitch roof and roof lights allow east(morning) and west(afternoon) light into the space. The extra slot window over the dinning area grabs some extra morning sun which is always a bonus 🌅

This was a full house refurb, a 2-storey and single storey rear extensions to a detached property.
A complete re-think at ground floor; creating a new light-filled kitchen extension leading to an external patio area, better storage and utility spaces. A new and extended master bedroom suite at first floor and a full refurb at attic level to create new guest accommodation.
A single storey ‘wrap-around’ extension to this unassuming cottage at the end of a lane in Chapel Town, S35.
A dark stained larch timber cladding was used to contrast with the white render of the existing cottage.
The side extension made space for a new side entrance with a downstairs WC and utility room. The rear extension made space for an expanded kitchen-diner area creating a better connection to the rear garden.
📸 AFTER and BEFORE 📸
Full house refurb, 2-storey and single storey rear extensions to this detached house on Furniss Avenue in Dore.
We replaced and added to a very poorly developed prior extension, which although adding some extra space did not meet our clients needs. An inefficient kitchen layout, dark and not taking advantage of the aspect and views.
We addressed these issues with a complete re-think at ground floor; creating a new light-filled kitchen extension leading to an external patio area, better storage and utility spaces. A new and extended master bedroom suite at first floor and a full refurb at attic level to create new guest accommodation.

New photos of a huge transformation to this beautiful Victorian home next to the Botanical Gardens.
Some significant structural alterations and a single story extesnion have transformed an old style kitchen off-shot into a multi-use space for family life.
A number of different ‘zones’ were created in this new light flooded open-plan space, creating new: cooking, eating, relaxing, learning and play spaces. This side of the house is full of warmth, sunlight and connection to the outdoors now.
Survey this week on an attractive detached victorian home in the Upperthorpe conservation area.
We’ll be developing renovation proposals here along with a contemporary side and rear extension. The work will aim to reconfigure, enhance and expand: the ‘muddy boot/dog walk entrance’, utility/storage spaces, the kitchen and dining layout. There’s a secluded and sunny garden at the rear to open things up to✨

This recently completed project in S10 has completely transformed a dilapidated, fabric-poor existing bungalow and turned it into a high performance contemporary home for the future.
The new south facing kitchen-diner space is partially separated from a large new formal lounge area. The separating wall is used for recessed TV displays and a new 3-sided bio-fuel stove. A large triple format sliding door connects the kitchen diner with the external patio. There’s a new master bedroom, walk-in wardrobe, bathroom and a second bedroom at first floor.

The new double height entrance adds some real wow factor to this project. Light filled from large front facing windows and roof lights, it provides the lobby between the kitchen-diner, guest bedroom, garage and the light filled stair to the upper level bedrooms.

The rear garden was landscaped for level access inside-outside living. The large triple sliding unit connects the kitchen-diner to external eating. The garden room extension also opens onto the patio whilst taking in the stunning views across Sheffield to the South-East 🌅

A new double height entrance leads to a new south facing open-plan kitchen dinner with a semi-connected living space and garden room. There’s also a new utility room, larder and a ground floor en-suite guest room. At first floor there are 2 double bedrooms and bathroom.
Photos of a two-storey side and single-story rear extension in Greystones S11.
We also got planning for a large rear raised deck to maximise views and to provide level access from the kitchen-diner for outside living/dining use. We also managed to fit some very useful below deck storage in too.
Level changes can be a challenge on properties in Greystones, so it was good to work to their advantage here!
Twin dormers on a large new loft conversion and ground floor alterations at King Ecbert Road in Dore. We worked with the clients to create 2 new bedrooms and a new bathroom, accessed via a wonderfully bright and light-filled double height stairwell space. At ground floor new bi-folding doors open onto a south-facing deck overlooking the garden.
Photos at Vernon Road, Dore - an impressive planning approval for a double side and rear extension to a semi-detached home in S17.
The extension expands the house (along with a new garage) into its spacious corner plot creating a far better connection to the lovely gardens from the new kitchen-dining-living space. A further new living room to the front, WC, and utility room are located at ground floor also. At first floor there are two new bathrooms, a new master suite with walk-in storage and a new 4th bedroom.
Site progress on Hoole Street, Walkley….EXISTING and PROPOSED floor plans.
Some careful rearrangement of the plans at ground and first floor has really unlocked the potential of this house. Three new good sized bedrooms and two bathrooms upstairs along with a much nicer, double height, light filled stair and landing space with views to the front and back. Don’t underestimate circulation space!
Planning submitted to convert an existing two-story structure to the rear of this beautiful period property in S6 into a new 2-bed apartment, large social space and garden terrace.
Originally the structure and premises were used as a bakery, and some of the quirky original features will remain!
New shots of a complete remodel of a bungalow in Greystones S11. By redesigning the ground floor plan with a brand new upper floor level we have created a dramatic new double height entrance space with a new direct link to the garden. A beautiful new timber staircase and bridge, links to three new bedrooms and a new bathroom.
The lovely new light filled bedroom spaces sit under a full width timber clad rear dormer.
You can see the After and Before shots showing the Siberian larch cladding from to the full width rear dormer. The new composite windows and patio doors really open up views to the lovely rear garden. It looks pretty neat from the front too!
I’ve also included a shot of the new dual-aspect living room space which runs the full length of the house after we joined two existing rooms together.
Some initial photos from our clients on this side return extension on a beautiful terrace villa in Botanical Gardens. Professional photos to follow! 📸
Photos of our recently finished rear extension on Williamsom Road in Nether Edge. Such a crisp and modern finish to this one with its timber cladding, the exposed ceiling joists and full width roof light defining the junction between old and new. We love it!
📸 Terrace house re-design 📸 Another corker on Wadbrough Road S11 from our specialist ‘side return’ builder! He never fails to impress with his price, workmanship and project management 💥
A small, affordable extension, yet huge transformation on this one. Kitchen pulled back into existing dining area, new light filled dining space, sitting area, utility room and ground floor toilet. Dynamic new windows and doors leading more seamlessly to the garden, new external workshop/store with this one also 🤩
A delightful survey (and clients of course!) on this stunning detached property in Nether Edge this morning. We’ll be developing proposals for major thermal and structural alterations, along with adding a large new single storey rear extension. The extension will create a far better connection to the large rear garden with new kitchen, dining, living and utility spaces. Watch this space 👀
Here’s another recently completed single story wrap around extension over in Greenhill, S8 that provided a new ground floor en-suite bedroom.
Assisted and multi-generational living seems to be becoming more of a focus in projects at the moment, perhaps in the shadow of Covid, rising house prices and a refocus on family and quality of life are leading to this.
We’re really pleased to have worked on and be working on a number of such projects and will be posting further updates on their progress here soon!
New photos of this transformational rear extension and extensive internal alterations over in Crosspool, S10.
An old conservatory was on completely the wrong side of the house, blocking light back into the main living room and creating a dark overshadowed space outside the kitchen. This was replaced on the opposite side, in the form of a more contemporary approach to a garden room, opening up a sunny courtyard on the south side, now flooding all the spaces with lots of natural light, such a great result!
New photos in for this large single storey rear extension over in Hillsbrough. We created an expanded kitchen-dining-living area, new utility and storage spaces and a large new ground floor en-suite bedroom, all overlooking this amazing garden!
This was quite a quirky little extension over on Oakbrook Road we did last year. It shows how these terrace house off-shot kitchens can be adapted and can even include a utility room and WC!
The glazed screen between the kitchen and dining area provides the acoustic separation that out clients wanted, and it looks great too!
