We have just opened a shop in Kabale! Not quite finished yet - still waiting for some hanging rails and cupboards but we're open.
Now we need to add more stock which we will do over the coming weeks.
If you live in Kabale come and visit us - this month we will have some opening discounts.
Sneaky preview of some new tablemats coming soon.
We're starting to purchase some items from a women's group north of Kampala so watch this space!
Toiletries in one, jewellery in another. Our drawstring bags come in two different sizes and a variety of colourful patterns.
Throw in your stuff, pull the drawstring and you're ready to go.
As part of their vocational training pupils at our Special Needs School (SNEC) are taught weaving. They make baby shawls that we purchase and include in the mother and baby kits that we give to new mothers at Bwama Island Health Centre.
The looms are made by pupils in our carpentry workshop.
We train women in our groups to weave and supply them with looms that we purchase from the pupils at SNEC.
We purchase shawls from the women but they also sell them, and other woven items, locally.
All of our projects helping each other!
Our ladies work with a variety of beads - paper, glass, wood, semi -precious stones.
They make many different products - necklaces, bracelets, placemats, purses, net food covers.
The paperbeads are made in all shapes and sizes and some are covered with kitenge.
We have very talented ladies!
Smart as can Bee!
Our Head Tailor, Rose, has made thirty bee suits and veils for the thirty women who have just received their new bee hives from us.
These women are part of our bee keeping project just launched at Lake Bunyonyi.
Suits and veils can be ordered from us at very competitive prices, just send us a message.
A snapshot of some of our small tablemats on a brown theme, with a bit of orange thrown in. Oh, and a bit of black and white.
No pinks, or greens, purples or blues. We're saving those for another post!
We're back ! Sorry for the long silence, time just flies by.
The shops BirdNest Resort - Lake Bunyonyi and Bunyonyi Overland Resort are open and we will soon have new product there.
Looking forward to welcoming back overseas tourists but great to see Ugandans are enjoying visiting their country's beauty spots too.
Here we have two participants from our beading workshops. These two are from the group at Alongside Africa Halfway House.
They are learning to bead onto nets to make different sized covers to keep flies off food. Always useful.
We sell three different sizes of round covers and three of square covers.
Currently available at Birdnest and Overland shops at Lake Bunyonyi.
