Out now! To celebrate the 25th Anniversary of ‘Can't Get High Without U’ Dave Lee formerly known as Joey Negro digs out the original DAT session and reworks the mix down. Bringing the track up to date with an overhaul of the arrangement, crafted for maximum peak time ecstasy, ramping up the tension and remastering the sonics. This is a prime cut of JN disco-house action, re-imagined for 2024 that has already been causing dancefloor devastation whenever aired.

Felix Buxton aka one half of the legendary Basement Jaxx finds a home on Z Records through his ‘Celestial Being’ project where we have had the spiritual jazz dance track ‘Raise the Vibration’ remixed by long-term ZR collaborator Crackazat. Giving us not one but two versions to choose from, his ‘Club Mix’ takes the original and fires it directly at the dancefloor by adding funked-out guitars, jazzy chords and a serious Vibes solo, perfect for the incoming sunshine. His 'Mana Dub’ twists the source material into soulful & punchy deep House territory, full of the Crackazat bounce he’s known for. To round off the release is a Dub from the main man himself Felix who beefs up proceedings for some heads down, hands up club action.

Out today on 12” ✨⚫️✨ Z Records looks back to go forward as it offers up a spiffing new 12” of contemporary reworks of 4 classic cuts of various vintages from the ZR back cat. Kicking things off in fantastic fashion is a slap bass and wah clav powered take on Raven Maize’s ‘Forever Together’, originally released in 1989, this was the first house cut to feature the now iconic keys riff. Dave’s Heavenly Star mix of ‘One Kiss’ (first out in 1991) is pure hip-swinging soulful disco. Joey Montenegro (who could that be?) offers two classic cuts on the flip side. ‘Make A Move On Me’ (Original Disco mix) sees the crossover hit from 2005 get a Chic-like makeover with its zippy leads and timeless diva vocals. Playing now is the special 25th Anniversary Mix of 1998’s ‘Can’t Get High Without U’ which closes things off with some peak time, tension-filled, disco house action!!

When you think of the Trammps you tend to think Disco. However, on this occasion, it’s not the case. Dave Lee has totally reworked an obscure Trammps acapella to something that harks back to the glory days of 90s Soulful House. Here Dave chops & re-purposes the gospel-fuelled throaty vocals to soar over classic M1 piano chords, time-honored synth swells, and that all-important Organ solo that really takes it to Church.

This is a joyous ode to that classic 90’s soulful house vibe done by a master of his craft who lived through those hazy early days of HOUSE HOUSE HOUSE.

On the flip Dave Lee takes it back to '97 with his rework of Backroom Productions 'Classic Vibe' which sees him flex his house-ier muscles, re-arranging the classic elements and adding extra keys to this much loved underground tune.

Finishing off the EP is Dave's remix of nu-soul diva Raquel Rodriguez, where he crafts Raquel's dynamic vocal delivery over chunky Disco drumming & soulful synths before letting loose into Roy Ayers-esque vibes finale!
