About KMSP

In the world of sport, success tends to be measured in wins and losses; athletes want to perform to the best of their ability and take on a number of tasks to accomplish this, such as increased attention to nutrition and training. This necessary level of involvement often leads athletes and those surrounding them fixate on what they are and what they do, which can take precedence over why they are doing so.

When athletes lose sight of this, they often stop competing like “themselves” despite the fact that their unique approach and abilities are the reason each athlete is special. KMSP believes that athletes must be authentically themselves in order to reach and maintain peak performance. KMSP’s consultancy is derived from several philosophical and psychological backgrounds which place the athlete and their world as the focal point, treating them as a whole person rather than just an athlete.

While many sport psychology consultancies advocate focusing only on sport and the athlete in this context, KMSP believes that developing the athlete as a whole person is the only way to reach peak performance. What athlete will say that every-day factors do not effect them in training or competition?

The ultimate goal of KMSP is to accomplish the performance goals of athletes, teams, and organisations. The specifics of how we do this is dependent on the athlete and their environment, however some examples include approaching anxiety as an opportunity rather than something to avoid or diminish, mental skills training, and interventions which increase mental toughness and resilience.
