Only happy thoughts and everything nice !! Here is one of my favourite spaces, a space that I visit to keep my body together (literally!!) and as my teacher says "I can't help with your head, but I can help your body to help with your head!" Thank you Nicola Spackman
This morning I woke up to a ♥️ warming compliment and a hug from my son….. and yes he meant the Christmas tree not the turkey 🦃.
ps I don’t use perfumes or synthetic fragrances but I love pure essential oils.
sharing only happy thoughts for the next few days. .. what are you grateful for ?
Do you ever have days (months more like) when everything is just too much? I definitely do.
I am learning to be extra kind to myself, make time to be in nature, read not work related books, meet girlfriends more often, watch silly movies without feeling that I am wasting my time and at times just do nothing!!
In the past I used to feel super guilty for taking time off, having long lunch breaks or not working at 100 miles per hour everyday of my life.

among my favourites Frankincense, Ylang Ylang and Bergamot
A recent review article urged further exploration of essential oils for mental health. The review highlighted research on essential oils for anxiety, depression, and dementia such as frankincense, ylang ylang, bergamot, sweet orange, lemongrass, lavender, and rosemary.
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/32860651/
What is your favorite essential oil (please no brand or blend names) to support your mental health?
The truth is, dementia is a very big problem that’s becoming bigger every day.⠀
⠀
What’s the link between Alzheimer’s and diabetes? ⠀
⠀
Well, new research shows insulin resistance, or what I call diabesity (from eating too many carbs and sugar and not enough fat) is one of the major factors that starts the brain-damage cascade, which robs the memory of over half the people in their 80s, leading to a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease.⠀
⠀
Here’s the bad news/good news. ⠀
⠀
Eating sugar and refined carbs can cause pre-dementia and dementia. But cutting out the sugar and refined carbs and adding lots of fat can prevent, and even reverse, pre-dementia and early dementia. Sugar causes pre-diabetes and diabetes, which often leads to significant memory loss. ⠀
⠀
Chronic stress takes a toll on your body and brain. Stress shrinks the hippocampus, the memory center of the brain. So, find your pause button every day and make time for some stress relief. Relaxation isn’t a luxury if you want to prevent or reverse dementia. Whether that involves deep breathing, meditation, or yoga, find something that helps you calm down. ⠀
⠀
Lack of sleep can cause impaired brain function, leading to CRAFT syndrome, which stands for “can’t remember a _____ thing.” Studies show poor sleep becomes a risk factor for cognitive decline and Alzheimer’s disease. Aim for at least 8 hours of quality sleep every night.⠀
⠀
We now know that physical activity can prevent and even slow down the progression of cognitive decline and brain diseases like dementia. Even a 30-minute walk can help. More active readers might want to incorporate high-intensity interval training or weight lifting.
Yesterday I have experienced firsthand the heart 💜 opening qualities of cacao. WOW, just WOW.🕯
My analytical mind is trying to analyse which component did what … Was it the Theobromine component and it’s effects on mood and focus?
I also found a paper ‘Mood components in cocoa and chocolate’ … yes I know 🤫
But the Cocoa message was strong, ‘out of your head and into the body’ … so I will leave my research papers behind and let go💜.
Another study on the possibilities of essential oils for dementia, memory and Alzheimer's disease.
Acetylcholinesterase increases the availability of acetylcholine a neurotransmitter that has a major role in learning and memory.
There is sound research and evidence in homeopathy.
For example by the end of 2019, 221 randomised controlled trials of homeopathy on 115 different medical conditions had been published in peer-reviewed journals. Of these, 129 were placebo-controlled on 77 medical conditions and were therefore eligible for detailed review.
45% were positive, finding that homeopathy was effective; 4% were negative, finding that homeopathy was ineffective; and 51% were inconclusive.
These results are surprisingly similar to the effectiveness of conventional medicine. A study printed in 2015 in the British Medical Journal (BMJ) found that of 3,000 commonly used NHS treatments 50% are of unknown effectiveness and only 11% are proven to be beneficial.
SSRI anti-depressants, such as Prozac, are an example of such a treatment. These have now been confirmed as being no more effective than placebo in the treatment of mild and moderate depression, yet in 2016 the NHS dispensed 64.7 million anti-depressant items.

Can’t wait to dig into this one !! there is nothing like a new book ..
💦💦💦💦Water is extremely important to mental health And yet it is something that is not talked about much
our bodies are mainly made of water 💦💦and so is our 🧠 brain
blood is made up of 90% water and it carries oxygen to different parts of our body, brain included !!
Drinking water decreases the risk of depression and anxiety in adults, low water consumption doubles the risk of depression and anxiety
Being hydrated can reduce the risk of panic attacks, dehydration can increase symptoms of headaches and increased heart rate symptoms that could lead to a panic attack.
Being dehydrated makes it more difficult to concentrate and it can affect motor skills
When the brain is hydrated toxins and nutrients can move more freely in and out of cells.
Being hydrated can increase energy levels and the ability to think clearly in fact dehydration impairs short-term memory and the ability to recall information.
so something simple that we can all do, make sure that we drink more water.
When I work I often forget to drink, sometimes I realise I am thirsty as my concentration goes … What about you?
💦 💦💦💦💦

during the pandemic walking outside was one of the top coping strategies and 45% of people reported that being in green spaces had been vital for their mental health.
People noticed nature more during lockdown and I know I wasn’t the only one being grateful for it ❤️
what does it mean for you to connect with nature?

How to repurpose lunch and don’t cook:
KISS keep it super simple
wash or cook more vegetables the night before, if it is a salad don’t add condiment
keep some wild, brown, red rice, quinoa or buckwheat already cooked in the fridge in a glass container
cook more chicken, frittata, have spare feta or tofu, mackerel in the fridge
keep some cooked beetroots, sweet potatoes etc from the day before
add some freshly grated or courgette, spring onions, carrots peppers
put some music 🎼 on
fill your plate (half of its size with vegetables)
add one portion of protein as big as the size of your palm
add 2 generous sprinkle of grains, add some starchy vegetables 2/3 pieces
add extra virgin olive oil, salt pepper a lemon squeeze or tahini or contact me for more ideas
sit down 🪑 and enjoy 😊
prepare ahead to save time the next day. what do you usually do for lunch? do you cook ?
The number of people with Alzheimer's disease (AD) is expected to triple from now until 2050. Current drug treatment options do not slow or stop its progression and only treat symptoms.
A preclinical model of AD reported that inhaling lemon essential oil for one hour daily over the course of 30 days reduced cognitive dysfunction and improved memory. The oil increased synaptic density, synaptic plasticity, brain-derived neurotrophic factor, and acetylcholine levels in the brain, all important for memory and cognition.
