Happy New Fit and Healthy 2023 to Everyone. I am delighted to announce that PARKRUN at the Auldcathie Park is being launched this Saturday the 7th January .
Over the last year local resident Gillian Wells and her committed team of volunteers have worked closely with us to develop the Auldcathie as registered National Parkrun Venue. IT'S NOW HAPPENED https://www.parkrun.org.uk/auldcathiedistrict/
This means that EVERY Saturday at 9.30 am there is the opportunity for free for anyone to run, jog or walk a 5k route through the park with likeminded people havening fun keeping fit at your own pace. The route is on the map below. Each week accredited volunteers will steward the route and manage the events so its all safe and supported. To register for free with parkrun follow the link https://www.parkrun.org.uk/register/?eventName=auldcathiedistrict this enables your times to be logged and helps you see your own improvement each time to take part.
When we designed the park, parkrun was one of the requests we had so it was designed to provide variety of 5k loops across the whole site. We are overjoyed to see this is now starting this week.
WDL are delighted to be the main sponsor of the Auldcathie parkrun along with support from a few of the local home builders Cala, Taylor Wimpey, Smarts, Barratt and Bellway.
If you want to join in please come along to the starting point - the back of the Health and Wellbeing Hub this Saturday prior to 9.30. Please walk to the Hub but if arriving by car PLEASE park at the school/hub, NOT surrounding streets. The hub is open for toilet facilities.
Please NOTE Zac &Co is at the finish line and open for refreshments.
We have a special Sporting Guest starting the race for us on Saturday so please come along to take part of watch the first Auldcathie Parkrun.
Finally, the route will be busy from 9.30 to 11am so dogwalkers/cyclists please be aware

💖The amazing charity SAMH are carrying out some research into the impact menopause has on mental health and physical activity.
🗣Seeing friends and family members struggling with symptoms and taboos I’m researching more myself and want to encourage conversations and help to try reduce the impact it has on everyday life activities.
🥊I want to do what I can to help remove taboos and barriers around the subject when it comes to woman’s mental and physical fitness so they feel supported and able to talk without fear.

You’ve all motivated me with your commitment so despite the muggy weather I managed to squeeeeeze in a 9.5 mile run between clients this morning, but (perhaps karma from giving you all torture shuttle runs and a killer abs section yesterday) I got a wasp sting in my quad on the canal at mile 7 which still aches, even as I sit in the car at school with my first coffee of the day (thanks The Wee Winchburgh Cafe)😂🐝😓

Despite the heat we smashed a tough bootcamp💥. We modified to account for the temperature 🌡and made sure we took the rest and water throughout!

🏃🏻♀️You’ve all motivated me this week and I’ve even managed to squeeze in a 15 mile run, despite it being horrid and painful! 😵💫🤮Everyone has a bad day at the office! Between that, work, childcare and community meetings I need a glass of something strong to get me over hump day!
