Gun metal policeman’s truncheon pen with a high gloss finish
Like busses……no posts for a while then two come once 😀👍.
These two pens are made using salvaged wood from a 19th century policeman’s truncheon. The truncheon was split lengthways. I think the wood is teak but happy to be corrected.
The chrome one was finished with a natural wax.
The gun metal was finished with a glossy durable coating

The second pen is made from
Irish Bog Oak and is carbon dated to be over 4000 years old. This is to symbolise longevity.
We have made these pens for a couple who will be getting married tomorrow.
The first one is faux ivory and has been made to symbolise the purity of love.
Good afternoon everyone. We don’t think the pictures do this pen justice. It’s made from Pippy Oak which had many deep voids in the wood making it difficult to turn. Jac painstakingly filled these by hand with green mica powder, finished with a tiny jewel to give it sparkle 😀

Sunday fun……..this pen is made from the resin that is left in the pots at the end of a full pour. We turned and finished it today to see how it would look…
These pens are made from wood from a (now closed) army camp in Bielefeld Germany. The natural colour is a little light so we used stain to bring out the natural pattern of the wood.

Hi everyone. As we slowly come out of lockdown we’re managing to get back into (the new) workshop. Jac and I spent most of lockdown designing and building the new interior. Hopefully it’ll be more streamlined and efficient for us.

Our History
Thornton Pens is run by husband and wife team, Mac and Jacqui, located in the picturesque Lancashire coastal town of Thornton. Our exquisite hand crafted pens are made from the very best natural materials which are ethically sourced globally. These are complimented with bespoke pigmented resins to the clients personal taste. Our stunning creations are as individual as you are.
Over the years we have created a number of custom orders which included memorial pens (resin encapsulated ashes of pets), HM Forces insignia/colours/styles, writing instruments made from walking sticks, pace sticks and heritage pieces of wood and a vast array of other materials.
We are passionate about our craft and ensure that each pen is created to our exacting standards. In today’s throw-away society, our hand crafted writing instruments are created to withstand the passing of time.
