Shame we saw this too late or we could have applied for council funding to stop the council building on greenbelt… to raise climate awareness and promote biodiversity 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️
Are we the only one thinking this is an oxymoron???

The Climate Co-Operators fund is providing £20k worth of grants to community groups that will help people save money, improve their health and connect to the local environment.

What is the 'grey belt' and how many homes could Labour build? 09/07/2024

What is Grey Belt? Well it’s currently not a legal status, it’s a made up term to describe greenbelt that’s previously been developed, but is contained within a greenbelt designated area.
Described as poor quality and ugly areas - on parts of protected land. Question is, who decides what’s ugly or poor quality? If scrubland grows over and is left to revert back to the wild. Is it ugly? Is it scruffy? What defines poor quality?

What is the 'grey belt' and how many homes could Labour build? Labour has announced plans to build on the "grey belt", as it tries to meet its pledge for 1.5 million homes.

Having had the support from Friends of Bamford fundraiser last week, it’s the Greenbelt supporters turn, if any volunteers want to turn up and help do a bit of tidying up, housekeeping and for those more adventurous, a spot of gardening. Getting the green ship shape for this years entry ‘in bloom’.
Pitch up between 11-1 on the Green. Sunday 9th June. No equipment necessary unless you have done, but gloves are advised.

If the fun dog show last Sunday inspired you to get involved in more local Community events, we'll be up on the Green again this coming Sunday, weather permitting, this time tidying up the Community Garden, and we could use some help.
Judging for Rochdale In Bloom takes place sometime at the end of June, so if we're to achieve our usual Level 5, Outstanding, result, we need to get it tidied up a bit, as it's been a bit neglected this year, and is looking decidedly straggly with all the rain.
Sunday, 9th June, between 11.00am and 1.00pm. All welcome.

Just thank you. All who organised. All who participated. All who donated. Amazing 👏

Bamford and Norden, you are amazing!
The FOB /Amber Pets fun dog show yesterday was a roaring success, socially and financially, and thanks to you amazing people, raised over £2500 for Save Bamford Green Belt, in Sponsorships, entry fees, dog events, donations, catering, and let's not forget the sale of the tomato plants and the raffle for the orange Mountain Bike! 🤣🤣🤣
Just as importantly, everyone seemed to have a good day and enjoy this friendly community event.
Huge thanks to all the generous local businesses who sponsored classes or other prizes, to the people who baked and donated cakes to sell, and to the volunteers who helped organise, set up, run it and clear up afterwards. Also thanks to the judge, and an extra large thanks to Angela, at Amber Pets, who we suspect is secretly Wonder Woman🤣. But most of all, thanks to YOU, and your dogs, for supporting this event so brilliantly.
Every penny raised will go to SBGB, part of the ongoing contribution to the wider Save Greater Manchester Green Belt Fund, towards the Legal Challenge to building on Green Belt.
If every community in Greater Manchester does as well as this, they'll raise the money in no time.🤞🤞
Thank you all, once again.

We would like to thank them, but this is also a shout-out to see if any anyone of our kind supporters would be free to volunteer to help out on the day?
If you reply in the post the organisers will message you separately to arrange.

Campaigners to sue over Greater Manchester plans for greenbelt homes 23/04/2024

Great article on BBC News about our campaign across Greater Manchester against P4E, featuring one of our close neighbours affected in Bury at Simister. Just keeps outlining the madness of building on greenbelt in swathes, as they have put - the plans are for "the wrong homes in the wrong places"

Oldham Council objects to proposal for 1,400 homes which has come 'too soon' 22/10/2023

The fact developers are trying to lodge building plans across Rochdale ahead of P4E shows that the argument that pre allocating greenbelt in these plans will stop development on greenbelt. This demonstrates it actively encourages it as the developers feel it will be passed as a guarantee.

Green Belt – the net approaches the gross as GMCA backtracks 12/03/2023

So, this is a little confusing to say the least, but it seems that the GMCA added non greenbelt land (like parks for example) to hide the amount of real green belt that would be lost if developed, to make the loss of greenbelt figures look ‘better’. As these areas are not allowed to be counted as greenbelt ( as they aren’t) they have now taken them out, but sounds like they are trying to make it sound like a concession…. Read into this what you can….

NPPF Consultation | Community Planning Alliance 27/02/2023

Dear all SBGB Supporters.

As you may have heard, Michael Gove hopes to amend the National Planning Guidelines (NPPF) and has put the new guidelines out for consultation. They are very good news for us as he is proposing to remove the mandatory housing target figure for each area, so Councils will no longer be able to say they have to build houses or they will be fined by the Govt. As one Bury Councillor put it “They are taking away our shield”.

The developers are not happy about the new guidelines, and we are sure they will be putting in some very detailed objections to the consultation, so it is important that this gets supporting responses from as many people as possible ….. we don’t want the developers to have it all their own way!!

Please could everyone spare a few minutes to respond to the consultation? It’s an online one like the PfE.
