Gillian Bond Funeral Celebrant

I am a professionally trained Independent Civil Celebrant who conducts Funeral & Memorial Services.

As a Celebrant I can help create a meaningful, memorable and fitting end of life tribute. Every ceremony is individually tailored and will honour and celebrate the life of the deceased person in a dignified and appropriate way by focusing on everything that made that person special and unique. This lovely copper Christmas tree made in metal by my very talented daughter Elizabeth Bond was the perfect place to hang the Christmas decorations from Steven Butcher . Support local business!

I had the privilege of leading the memorial service of a lovely lady last week. The family chose not to have a traditional funeral but instead were able to celebrate the life of their loved one in the way they wanted.

A poem for national poetry day!

Idyll
Siegfried Sassoon - 1886-1967

In the grey summer garden I shall find you
With day-break and the morning hills behind you.
There will be rain-wet roses; stir of wings;
And down the wood a thrush that wakes and sings.
Not from the past you'll come, but from that deep
Where beauty murmurs to the soul asleep:
And I shall know the sense of life re-born
From dreams into the mystery of morn
Where gloom and brightness meet. And standing there
Till that calm song is done, at last we'll share
The league-spread, quiring symphonies that are
Joy in the world, and peace, and dawn’s one star.

Bill sadly passed away last June, with covid restrictions many were not able to attend his funeral at the time. It was lovely to take opportunity to celebrate the life of Bill with his friends and family yesterday.

Funerals are as much for the departed as for those who remain; so surrounding yourself with professionals who can help you though this experience can be fundamental to creating a meaningful tribute.
The Funeral Director will facilitate all the practical arrangements where as I will prepare the ceremony to include poignant words, favourite music, poetry and personal tributes either led or supported by me.
Some funerals I have conducted could be termed as different. People have chosen a natural burial site, a dove release as part of the ceremony or a performance by musicians.

I am honoured and privileged to work with families and friends during their time of loss and will meet the needs of your family and provide a ceremony that reflects the personality and beliefs of the one that has passed. I strive to create a ceremony that helps you acknowledge what you, as the bereaved, require in your goodbyes; as well as honouring and celebrating life.
