This beautiful blue beaded gown, complete with ostrich feathers(!) came to me for alterations ahead of a wedding next month.

It has been substantially shortened (removing train) and the shoulders lifted (beading removed, sewn, then re-beaded).

Congratulations to the happy couple, Lindsey and Shane. Thank you for sharing these photos from your wedding day. You both look gorgeous and so happy!

Lindsey's dress needed shaping at the bodice as well as sleeves and straps shortening to make it fit perfectly. 🥰

I've taken a BIG leap! I've shoved my imposter syndrome aside and thrown my name into the TWIA hat!

If your wedding took place between 02.10.23 and 30.09.24 and I carried out some alterations for you, please use this link to cast your vote.

True-blue* - two pretty blue bridesmaids' dresses shortened and given shoulder lifts in readiness for the big day!

*meaning of true-blue in English: completely loyal to a person or belief

Fantastically vibrant dress - this one is off to a wedding next week. The hem was dipping lower down in the front but because of the ruffled layers it wouldn't have looked right to alter at the hem. Instead, I've lifted it by removing a small section at the centre waist seam.

Another bridesmaid dress altered for a returning client. She must be a super friend to be a bridesmaid so often! 🥰

All ready for a destination wedding, this pretty Hobbs dress needed shortening whilst not losing the shape created by the triangular inserts (godets).

Who doesn't love a doorstep gift surprise!

I only did a couple of tiny emergency stitches, but it obviously meant a lot to the bride as I was treated to this!

Happy to have helped on your special day x

A fairly simple alteration to this very unusual dress. Handmade in Africa in a striking green Ankara fabric.

Why “What are you paying for wedding dress alterations?” will tell you nothing 18/07/2024

This is a question asked regularly in bridal groups. This is an excellent blog post written by a bridal seamstress, which gives an insight into pricing.

Why “What are you paying for wedding dress alterations?” will tell you nothing It’s the question in Facebook groups that makes me twitch: “What are you paying for your wedding dress alterations?” It’s usually asked to get an idea of how much the poster…

Our very own village beauty, Emma! It was an absolute pleasure to be involved right from the start with finding 'the' dress, then doing the alterations and even being invited along for a pre-prom party!

Emma, you are beautiful inside and out! x

Thank you Felicity for sending me some pics from the wedding. Everyone looks gorgeous!

Felicity's bridesmaid dress was altered so she could easily feed her baby without having to undo the whole bodice of the dress. I added concealed hook/eye fastenings at the top of each strap and moved the bow detail to disguise it.

Esme's dress was my very last prom dress of the 2024 season that came in for alteration. You look stunning, Esme, and it was very lovely meeting you and your mum.

Thank you, Naomi, for sharing these photos. I hope Esme had a wonderful evening!

The penultimate prom dress! This gorgeous green gown needed a slight adjustment in the side seams and, of course, the hem shortened!

Ready for prom tomorrow!

Beautiful bridesmaids dress shortened and ready for a destination wedding.

Which colour thread would you have chosen?
