Jasmine Newsome-Stone Yoga
I'm a Brighton based Online Yoga Teacher, passsionate about holding space for self-inquiry.
My classes are often themed, intellegently sequenced with a splash of anatomical knowledge to serve our bodies and minds and a focus on nurturing our intuition.
Like many many women, as a child I didn't dream of a white picket fence, a wedding or a family tucked away in a neat little suburb of nowhere.
I dreamt of a life rich with joy. Friends! Amazing, encouraging, hilarious, inspiring friends! I wished for a relationship I'd feel safe and seen in. I wished for LONDON, creativity and a feeling of daily communion with something larger than myself that kept me in tune with the magic of it all. I wished for a life that felt on fire with possibility.
Whilst I feel it's safe to say I mo*********ng got there, I also know that the disdain I felt for a life in line with the 'status quo' wasn't really mine to feel. Instead that disdain rooted heavily in a rejection of the role of the female we'd been fed. That picture didn't feel like me and frankly never really has, nor likely will.
The ideals of a soft mothering woman felt so far from who I was because of a deeply internalized misogyny and a gendered role that has been nipped and tucked within an INCH of her life. The perfect woman in the eyes of patriarchy was something that even as a CHILD I knew was utter bu****it. It's a privilege to be moving towards 31 with reverence, acceptance and love of my wildness and knowing this is womanhood. The freedom to express that feels even HUGER, given what's playing out in the middle east for our sisters.
It's our duty to live as the women we are, not as the version society finds most palatable, as we're privileged enough to be free to. It's our duty and maybe we even rewrite the societal norm that to be a woman is to live as our most alive and aligned selves...?
Have you heard about the emotion K**a Mata?
It's a feeling caused by the "sudden intensification of communal sharing in relationships". It's the buoyancy and warmth we feel in our chest at a dear friends' wedding. Or the goosebumps and tears that rise to the surface at a moving concert.
K**a Mata is a Sanskrit word, meaning to be moved or stirred by love.
It's an emotion that researches have reported evidence of in all cultures, and yet we've not had a name for it until recently.
It's the feeling I sometimes feel when holding space for you, or when moving in community - the feeling of our hearts all humming alongside each other in the raw beauty of humanity.
Come and join me weekly on Thursdays (6pm) at for an exploration of togetherness, movement and intimacy with the right now. A 75 minute slow-build of a flow into rest. A true mid week reset.
Big love darlings ππ₯°
Here she is! A weekend of sunset fundraisers with all profits to
When things feel hopeless, when anger and numbness get big - open your arms and mobilise those feelings to create positive impact where you can!
As we watch the horrors unfold quite literally in our hands, so many of us (me included) numb down and armour up! We do it to cope, it's a strategy to try and move forward without crumbling. But when we're numbing the heart closes shop, and if that happens we can't live from an embodied place. We disconnect and carry on, folding in and in and in.
But we are one community. And we feel the ripples of this globally.
These offerings give you the container to re-connect with an embodied heart so that you can live Heart-Broad, connected to your humanity and wholeness. A ay to channel your difficult feelings.
I think that when we operate from the heart, we move to support each other. Even when we're angry or grieving. We can take the numbness and the lack of hope and channel it to something that can help, in whatever small way we can.
ALL PROFITS to support people in Lebanon and Palestine.
Huge thanks to and for helping to make this weekend a reality.
||OUT OF OFFICE|| I'm taking some time off to do some much needed Wintering, I'll be back to my usual tricks on Friday!

||HELLO YOU|| A choice to stroll uphill
To see the view from the top
Breathless gasps
To know, "this is living."
The presence I feel with plants
The knowing unraveled again
That this is the order of things.
Colour, life, death.
Presence, here, now.
A shedding, a letting go, a saying goodbye
But also a
"Hello you" we whisper together
And watch as nature unfolds herself
Again and again and again.
||VOICE|| So much of my personal work this year has been recapturing what has laid dormant. Remembering swathes of myself that I had forgotten and piecing my identity together. It's a liberating and hugely healing process and I honestly feel so joyful to be returning in wholeness.
Thank you so much .waddell for capturing me in my most honest state - voice ringing out through trees, bum notes and all. What a healing experience to be with voice amongst big green buddies π³
||FROM THE EARTH|| We spent our Autumn Equinox strolling in the woods, getting close to the soil and learning about plants and fungi with
Growing up in the New Forest, Mum taught us a bit about various mushrooms π so I've known a few delicious ones since I was pretty tiny. We have such a different earth there though, so few of my usual fungi friends tend to fruit in Sussex...naΓ―ve me thought that there wasn't that much to be found here, how wrong was I!!! It was so fascinating and fun to learn just how abundant the Sussex soil (and logs!) actually are.
Thank you to Seb and Richie for guiding and teaching us and to Mumma Earth for being such an abundant and caring home to us all.
If you're after getting more foraging knowledge I'd deffffffo recommend! There is so so so so much to eat out there!
||FAMILY/NATURE||
In arms of light
On paths of bark
The breath we sip
Gives way to dark
Soil so rich and
full and deep
The ivys green route
Seems to leap
Far beyond the space
We wander
A family tree
Splits in sonder
We all so joint
Yet halved and quartered
Here we are
United daughters.
Family walks in some beautiful places today. I feel an immense appreciation for my family today and the complex, nuanced love, support and structure...the weft and weave of us - a gift to hop on a train and be back with the ones who raised me, both people and land.
Big love fam to you and yours π
||THE POINT|| Do we do Yoga just for us?
A question we'll all answer differently but for me, no.
I do it so I can become more intimate with the right now, in all it's technicolour weirdness.
So that I can learn to settle in discomfort or challenge or boredom. Or so that I can be utterly THERE when I revel in joy or anger or grief of bliss. Of course I'm human...we all have our disassociation cocktails BUT yoga helps me with the above.
The best bit is that it teaches me how to simply be present with others.
Teachers say it all the time but Yoga can be SO much bigger than a few hours a week of moving, breathing and feeling good. Our practice can be a playground where we can feel through and test out our capabilities to be right THERE in that moment.
To be in the moment, with the people you have in front of you, no matter WHO they might be, is a pretty huge one. To be present is perhaps one of our time's BIGGEST challenges!
This for me, today, is my most important lesson from Yoga. Being WITH the people who are with me on any given moment. Peoples presence and their time and ears is such a gift and a gift we can give others too.

||SLOW DOWN|| Wow...what a week spent in the Alps teaching for the best of the best
(check them out if you haven't yet!!!)
There is nothing quite like a group of women coming together...spending a week with women from different backgrounds, countries and points in life feels like a sort of activism.
Moreover, its a kind of rebellion for women to take REST. To slow down and give ourselves permission to lie in, or take longer SIGHS (there were a lot of those!) or skip the vinyasas or eat as much as our tastebuds and stomachs are guiding us to...to luxuriate in presence and our senses...its a potent remedy to this fast paced life we live.
Until next year πβ€πβ€π

||NATURE|| Whatever the emotion, nature is almost ALWAYS the answer for me. She always teaches me valuable lessons and gives me so so much.
As we move into our final few days on our retreat with I am so struck by the potent levels of calm the mountains have gifted us. The mountain energy has permeated every layer of my being. The kind, sweet presence of everyone here, a gift too π
Every exhale is a sigh.
Every inhale deep gratitude.
