After a two year wait, Flower Show proved again why it’s the world’s greatest horticultural event. It is always a joy to collaborate with garden designers and help bring their visions to life. In 2020 we launched PlantBox, our modular, stackable living wall system and it was fantastic to share it with everyone who visited the PlantBox stand last week.
We were also proud to see PlantBox in use in five other locations across the show including; 'The Hot Tin Roof Garden’ by RHS Young Designer of the Year Finalist, Ellie Edkins, ‘Best Show Garden’ Winner 'The Guangzhou Garden' by Grant Associates,
and 'The Pharmacy of House Plants' by The Edible Bus Stop and Patch plants.

Another in our 'before and after series' - we love the way this living wall really lifts the visual appeal. Covent Garden has always been a fantastic place to visit and shop, and the addition of this living wall really elevates its appeal (and the butterflies agree!)
We love a 'before and after' - so here's Elephant and Castle for you. Commissioned in 2015 and still looking gorgeous - and the bees and butterflies think so too - watch until the end!
July is and we're proud to be able to shout about our efforts to be a part of the solution when it comes to reducing plastic usage.
PlantBox, our modular, stackable vertical planting system is made from 100% recycled materials. As well as its success within the domestic marketplace, we have found it popular with our hospitality and retail clients too: restaurants, bars, shops and cafes as have all found ways to incorporate our unique vertical greening systems into their public spaces – meaning they are part of the plastic revolution too – and not just for July!

What is Biophilia and Biophilic design?
Biophilia is an “innate and genetically determined affinity of human beings with the natural world”.
Put simply, biophilia is the intrinsic connection between human beings and nature, and by extension, plants. By tapping into biophilia, we access the all the benefits that plants offer – and now that the world is opening up and people are returning to offices and workplaces, there has never been a better time to bring biophilia into the workplace, for a healthier, happier workforce.
Tomorrow is 'National Don't step on a bee day' so here at Biotecture, we're just reminding you to to be careful of our little pollinating friends and we love the fact that our living walls bring such important biodiversity to urban landscapes. visit www.biotecture.uk.com/biodiversity for more.
A living wall is more than just window dressing, designed to make a building look attractive. This is our living wall at New Street Square, London. Installed in 2011, and still looking stunning, this living wall is an example of the longevity of our installations, which breathe life into the man-made surroundings, and offer biophilic respite from the urban grind.
The long term benefits of an external living wall installation include more efficient thermal regulation of buildings and improvements in cladding fire-safety. A living wall system is a long-term, net-positive investment in your building, your employees and your environment. Happy Anniversary New Street Square!

The Biotecture nursery - where the magic happens!
Whilst our maintenance crews work hard to keep our clients' living walls looking beautiful, year after year, it is our nursery manager, Campbell, and his dedicated horticultural team who are responsible for nurturing, growing and selecting all the plants we use for each living wall or green hoarding installation we deliver.
Using their many years of experience and in-depth plant-knowledge, Campbell and his team work tirelessly to determine the best planting plans and species, depending on each wall's aspect, season, availability and environmental conditions - and each wall is designed to thrive.
And let's not forget Lottie the dog, who greets everyone with a friendly hello and the hope of a belly-rub when you come to visit!
Here at Biotecture, we take the maintenance of our living walls just as seriously as we do the design and installation. That's how we ensure that our living walls look stunning year after year (and some of our walls are 10 years old this year).
This week, in our 'meet the team' series, we'd like to introduce you to Sally.
Sally looks after the remote monitoring of our clients' living walls, to ensure they are perfectly hydrated all year round. She keeps an eye on them from our HQ in Bosham, West Sussex, where she can deploy our Maintenance Team to manage any issues that may arise, meaning that your living wall remains in prime condition all year round.
When you work hard to create a more sustainable, environmentally friendly and healthy environment to live and work, a robust and reliable maintenance program is vital to ensure the longevity of your investment.

Happy Clean Air Day! Biotecture has always been a passionate advocate of biogenic regulation, or the use of plants to help reduce air pollution and improve air quality.
10 years ago, we were commissioned to design, install and maintain a living wall on the side of the Edgware Road Underground Station, to reduce air pollution in this urban street canyon.
An in-depth study conducted by Imperial College London, informed us as to which species to include in our living walls to maximise the capture of pollutants.
Boris Johnson, Mayor of London at the time, said "Delivering cleaner air for London is a top priority for me; this ingenious green wall traps harmful pollution on one of our busiest roads, helping to cleanse the air at this popular spot, as well as helping to soften and beautify the local environment".

A shout out to our Horticultural Manager, Michala!
How excited were we to appear on with yesterday! https://www.itv.com/thismorning/articles/the-growing-trend-on-the-up
It's always exciting to see projects coming together, particularly when it features the installation of our green hoardings, as shown at Globe Point development at Temple, Leeds. Take a look at our Living Hoardings ebook here: https://designrr.page/?id=93467&token=623274683&type=FP
Living Hoardings offer a more pleasing visual appearance overall, as well as helping to increase biodiversity by introducing a range of new plants and attracting pollinating insects. The plants also absorb dangerous gasses and trap harmful particulate matter that is present in the air caused by traffic fumes.
