A support network providing an individual buddy mentor to FY1s for their first year of being a doctor. Available to all F1s in the UK.

We hope new FY1s have survived their first month! A reminder that FY1s can sign up for free to have a buddy mentor, and doctors FY2 and above can volunteer as a buddy to one or more FY1s, here: http://fy1buddynetwork.co.uk

We are now open for this year!
Any FY1 who would like a buddy can find out more at www.fy1buddynetwork.co.uk, likewise we need plenty of buddies too all across the UK…
Also if you can spare a £ or two (or more) to support us would be greatly appreciated. We’re run by volunteers, and costs are low but they do add up. A little reminder from us - Most FY1s will have rotated last week starting a new post, and with Christmas approaching and winter pressures being felt all across the NHS we know this can be a difficult time of year.

We will stay open for new buddies and FY1s to sign up throughout the coming year. So those already signed up keep checking your inboxes! (and your spam folder) And keep telling colleagues and friends about us...
If anything has changed since you first signed up - if you would like any additional support, or if as a buddy you feel you can take on more or less FY1s, or if you have any other concerns please get in touch - [email protected]
Also a final reminder to those involved last year to fill in your feedback forms - or let us know of any other feedback so we can start considering any changes that may be needed to how we work early in 2022.

A little update from us...

With August changeover happening this week a lot of people are reflecting on the last year and the one ahead.
For new FY1s this may be particularly daunting so we hope that everyone will look out for them on the wards over the coming weeks.
We want all FY1s to be able to have a buddy looking out for them - so please spread the word, sign up (whether you're an FY1 or potential buddy) and most of all look out for each other :)

Today is Allocation Day for all those applying for FY1 posts starting in August 2021.
We hope everyone has got the Foundation School they were hoping for. We appreciate some may be a little disappointed initially, and hope that can grow into excitement in time...
We want all soon to be FY1s know that they can get a buddy to help them along wherever they’ll be working.
