Good morning!
⏰ Just a reminder it's that time of year again...
The clock change is approaching!
Here's some simple rules to minimise any disruption to your already established routine.
1-Starting tomorrow (Monday), bring bedtime, mealtimes, naps and bedtime 10-minutes earlier each daily.
You are looking to balance the hour change gradually so by the clock change there is no impact
2- If your baby is over 6 months old It is possible to do this in 20-minute reductions, by starting Thursday.
3-If you have minimal time and your baby is a little older on Saturday night put your baby to bed 30-minutes earlier than usual but work on having a busier day of activities so they are more tired by bedtime.
Remember, lots of fresh air and keep those bedrooms dark. BLACK OUT THOSE WINDOWS!

Merry Christmas. I hope you all have a wonderful time celebrating or enjoying the holidays.
I'm taking the next week off to spend time with my family. See you all in the New Year!

23/10/2023

Good morning
It's nearly that time of year again.
The clock change!
Whist that extra hour of sleep is a bonus to adults, to a baby it can mean a real disruption to previously established sleep routines.
If you want to avoid any behaviour changes with the clocks going back on Saturday.
You can start TODAY with the "10 minutes a day rule"
Meaning you put back baby's bedtime, feed times, nap times by 10 minutes each day before the official change. For example if your child goes to bed at 7pm tonight you will put baby to bed at 7.10pm instead, Tuesday night would be 7.20pm and so on until you reach 8pm on Saturday night. These smaller steps each day make it easier for baby to cope with.
If you feel that option isn't for you or you feel your baby can cope with a quicker option then that's ok! you can adopt the "20 minutes a day rule" as of THURSDAY moving everything back by 20 minutes each day. For children over 18mths, simply shifting mealtimes and bedtime back by 1 hour on the day of change should bring sleep success.

Safe sleep away from home!

Safe sleep can look different, depending on where you are and what options you have available - the most important is to always put baby to sleep on their back for day naps and night time sleep.

If you are able to, use a clear cot/crib/Moses basket, this is ideal. Babies need just a few basic items for sleep: a firm, flat mattress and well-fitted bedding.

If you do not have a cot or Moses basket then you should try and find another type of firm, flat, safe sleep surface for your baby, such as a travel cot or a pram that is flat and not sloping or tilted.

Safe Sleep Positions ❕

Sleeping your baby on their back for every sleep, day and night, is one of the most protective actions you can take to ensure your baby is sleeping as safely as possible. (unless a doctor has advised against this)

Once your baby can move themselves from their back to their front and back again, they will be able to find their own sleeping position. The first few times they roll onto their tummy, you might like to gently turn them back, but do not feel you have to get up all night to check.

🌑What is the safest temperature for babies?

A common question lots of new or expectant parents ask....

It is important to make sure that your baby’s room is at a comfortable temperature – not too hot or too cold. It is advisable to keep the room temperature between 16 -20Β°C, it is better for the room to be slightly cooler than too hot!
