Recently I have been working with babies on a 1:1 basis using a combination of swimming and movement therapy - 𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘢 𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘷𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘴𝘸𝘪𝘮 𝘤𝘭𝘢𝘴𝘴 𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘭𝘰𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘲𝘶𝘦𝘭𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘣𝘢𝘣𝘺.

With the focus being on following your baby's natural movements and rhythms in the water, we have named this unique approach '𝗕𝗮𝗯𝘆 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝘄'.

After working with a number of families to refine the session, I am excited to officially open up Baby Flow to more families.

𝗕𝗮𝗯𝘆 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗯𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀:

• We know that swimming has numerous physical and cognitive benefits for babies, including improved muscle development, coordination, and confidence.

• Additionally, movement focused therapy has been shown to be effective in helping babies regulate their emotions, build strong brain connections, and improve their overall well-being.

• Some parents want a 1:1 experience for their baby OR they may not be able to get into water themselves for a number of reasons

• In addition to teaching swimming, I am also a movement and vision therapist specialising in birth trauma for babies and retained reflexes for older children - this means I work with your baby on a complete unique 1:1 basis.

• My workspace is a cosy log cabin in my garden with a 2-meter round hot tub set at 35 degrees

Parents can sit next to the tub while I work in the water with your baby - especially important if you cannot or do not want to get in the pool yourself.

The cost is £30 for 30minutes for the in-water session.

Today I (wearing my Aqua Education Academy swim-hat) had the pleasure of working with ‘Rosie’s Rainbow Fishes’ to deliver the ‘Trauma Free Submersion’ course.

Little Turtle Swim Company share a pool on a Saturday with Rosie’s Rainbows, and we’ve worked together (along with other local swim schools) to help each other during some testing times recently.

We are women in business who help each other - we all have a common goal, for our swimmers, our businesses and our families…and working together is much nicer and healthier than the alternatives others choose to embrace.

Baby show time 🥳

15 Years ago TODAY, I started teaching Wednesday classes at the Novotel Hotel in Milton Keynes - I’m forever grateful to Sharon, the Manager at the time, giving me the opportunity to hire their pool.

I had 20 babies booked in across the whole day and was wondering how I was going to fill 6 hours of back to back classes 😳

…a month later we were full and added a Thursday to the schedule…6 months later a Tuesday and over the following year we had added and were full on a 5 weekdays.

This post is to show my absolutely appreciation and gratitude to every Manager at the Novotel who has supported Little Turtles over the last 15years - the support they have given us through the tough times of COVID, when many pools closed or stopped hiring, is unprecedented - we even had balloons and cake when we returned on August 3rd 2020 after lock down part 1…not only that, the Manager, Alfredo, added more hire time to the schedule knowing my other pools had yet to (or never did) open again 🙏🏻

Yesterday Scott and I were totally surprised with this amazing cake and the Novotel team singing ‘Happy Birthday’ 🎂…what a wonderful and thoughtful thing to do - the new Manager Elena

I realised late last night that Little Turtles was celebrating our 15th Birthday

On Saturday 28th February 2009, I started with 25 swimmers at Boughton Mill Gym in Buckingham.

We started in Mk soon after with just 10 swimmers on a Wednesday…and then it went boom 💥

Since then, I, and Little Turtles have taught around 8,000 children to swim...(it's possibly more tbh!).
⭐️
We’ve loved every minute of it - from the crazy to the amazing - from the babies to the adults...we even had a mouse in the pool once, and he was an awesome swimmer.
⭐️
Team Turtle has evolved somewhat over the years as well - my Dad was one of my first poolside assistants 😀

The focus for Little Turtle Early Years classes are on child-based movement, and how this movement helps a child body-map and gain postural control using the density and resistance water provides.

The infant reflexes, which are innate movements a child responds with to stimulation, start in the womb - and babies have the opportunity to revisit them when in calm waters.

To start with the babies exhibit gross motor movements, with practice and space these evolve and refine to fine motor dexterity - which happens for each child along their own individual developmental time line.

Our lessons are based on LEARNING THROUGH PLAY - genuine child-led play pedagogy ⭐️
