We are loving the creativity displayed by our young builders and families in our LEGO @ the Library' workshops this summer as part of the Summer Reading Challenge, 'Marvellous Makes'.

Here are the builds from last Friday's workshop, once again inspired by 'The Dot' by Peter H. Reynolds and the works of Kandinsky and Mondrian.

Amazing artworks by all!

And our LEGO mosaic created by everyone who has been to all of our workshops this summer is nearly complete too!

Have you signed up for this year's Summer Reading Challenge? Looking for your next read?

Then why not check out our tree board with its increasing numbers of 'Reader Reviews' written by other participants and library staff for some ideas!

The latest recommendation comes from Wren who read 'Bella the Storyteller' by Chris Naylor-Ballesteros and liked it because "it was surprising, exciting and the story was beautiful."

Thanks, Wren!

If you want to share one of your SRC reads as one of our volunteers or a member of the library staff for a 'Reader Review' slip.

Taking part in the Summer Reading Challenge is not just about reading your 6 books to earn your certificate and medal, it's also about sharing the books you read with others too.

Maya shared 'The Night Animals' by Sarah Ann Juckes and said she liked the book because "I could connect with the character as the book was written so well and it felt as if I was standing there with them."

Thanks, Maya - brilliant review!

If you would like to share one of your Summer Reading Challenge reads, ask our fantastic volunteers for a Reader Review slip and you could see your words on our Reading Tree board and here too!

We had a fantastic time yesterday afternoon creating 'book moths' from the pages of old recycled books.

Inspired by the book, 'The Lost Spells' by David Macfarlane and Jackie Morris, and the poem 'Moth', everyone created two 'book moths', one to take home and the other to be displayed in the Children's Area.

Why not join us to have a go yourself at our next session on Tuesday, 20th August at 2 p.m.

No need to book, suitable for ages 6+ and FREE!
