Crosscrake Church of England Nursery & Primary School
Friendship & learning at our thriving school. Our Christian values of kindness, perseverance & hope.
Earlier this week we held our annual Sports Day, which saw the children putting in some fantastic performances with some impressive “Personal Bests” recorded….
As part of the day, the Smoothie Bike was in attendance!
After their activities the kids were excited to all get a chance to chop fruit into the blender and then ride the bike to make their very own mini smoothies - here’s a little video of George making sure his blend is super smooth!!
Class 3 enjoyed a trip out to Strickley Farm last week thanks to Mrs Robinson… an adventure around the ancient woodland, searching out all sorts of wildlife and wildflowers - followed by the most beautiful calm, water colour painting session - what an absolutely stunning place to spend a few hours!!
Wish school was this much fun when I was a little ‘un…. Forest school Fridays - making pancakes on the fire with Mrs Stern…. So yummy!! 😋
Nursery have been learning about life cycles with tadpoles and caterpillars with Mrs Birks… brilliant work!
Some lovely recent work from Mrs Brown & Class 2… learning all about houses and homes, with some help from the 3 little pigs….
The Easter draw took place after our service in church yesterday…
And the winners are 🥁 🥁 🥁
1st place - £50 - Ann Edwards
2nd place - £30 - Graham Wadsworth
3rd place - £20 - Jo Gibson
Congratulations!!
That’s the first of three draws this year, and we still have numbers available, get in touch if you’d like to take part.
Fantastic week in school - Class 3 enjoyed a full morning taking part in a hockey tournament kindly hosted by Dallam School, followed by an Easter service in Church, during which the report for our recent SIAMS inspection was revealed - a real reason to celebrate - a fantastic review of our school.
To celebrate the Governor’s handed out Easter eggs to every child, they were pretty happy 😃
Below is a link to the inspection report , it really is worth a read, we are all very proud and pleased with it!

Fancy a chance of winning £50, £30 or £20? Three times a year? For just a tenner? All whilst helping support a local school?
Just over a week to go until the first draw of the year…. Get your number or number’s bought now!! See poster for details…..
The kids (and teachers) had fun this week with Mad March Crazy Hair Day….. lots of crazy colours and creations!!!
Take a moment….
Lots of lovely goodies in the Mothers Day Secrets Room today, the children absolutely love being able to choose something special and shop with their own money, it really is the sweetest thing to see….. although some of them did just buy sweets, so not sure if they will make it to Mum!!
Thanks to the PTFA for sorting this for the children… and huge thanks to everyone who donated!!
We all had great fun with yesterday! It was lovely to see the excitement as everyone arrived, and to see the whole school involved…..

May it be filled with joy, and a smile on every face! 😊🎇
To our small rural school, we raise a cheer,
To 2024, let’s make it a fantastic year! 🎉🥳
Happy Christmas everyone!!
A little poem of thanks to the special people that make our school what it is - THANK-YOU to them all!
In a small rural school, so merry and bright,
Where laughter and joy fill the halls day and night,
There's Mrs Birks in Nursery, with a smile so sweet,
Guiding little ones as they learn and they meet.
Mrs Brown and Mrs Stearn in Class 2, oh so kind,
Teaching with patience, expanding young minds,
With stories and crafts, they make learning a breeze,
Creating a classroom where happiness never recedes.
In Class 3, Mr Cunningham and Mrs Robinson, a pair,
Bringing knowledge and fun, a dynamic duo we share,
From math to science, they make it all clear,
Inspiring young minds to conquer any frontier.
Mrs Ward, with her wisdom, in Class 3 she resides,
Nurturing young talents, helping dreams to collide,
With her guidance and care, the students all thrive,
In a classroom where learning feels truly alive.
Now, in Class 4, we find Mrs Carr and Mrs Bonson,
Their enthusiasm and passion, never to be undone,
From literature to history, they ignite a spark,
In the hearts of their students, leaving a lasting mark.
And let's not forget Mrs Fletcher, our Head Teacher
She can’t be surpassed, no-one could reach her,
With her vision and dedication, she guides us all,
Creating an environment where we stand tall.
But it's not just the teachers who make this place the best,
It's the incredible staff, who just never rest,
From Mrs Stephens in the office and our hard working cleaner,
To all the TA’s and the lunchtime crew,
They all play a part, in making dreams come true.
So, in this festive season, let's celebrate with cheer,
Our small rural school, where happiness is near,
With laughter and joy, we'll sing and we'll dance,
For our school is a place where dreams have a chance.

Exciting day for Class 3 today - an outing to Pizza Express! We found out lots about pizza making, the ingredients used, the history of pizza, how to knead and stretch the dough, how hot the ovens are and much more. We tasted various toppings and we all got to make our own Margherita Pizza from fresh dough, which were baked & boxed up to taken home to enjoy!
A lot to learn and a lot of fun was had too…
A very popular school outing!
So we said goodbye to our Yr6 today, a pretty emotional day…. Here is a little poem to say a massive thank you to the whole teaching and staff team at our little school, for all you have done for them…..
It’s time for them to leave primary school
And say their last goodbyes
They hope the memories make you smile
As they don’t mean to make you cry
Their time here has been the best
Although a little scary at the start
You looked after them and cared for them
With all of your hearts
You taught them how to read and write
And to recite times tables too
They’ve played outside, been on
School trips & sung a hymn (or two)
Since reception they’ve grown in height,
And in confidence, more than just a bit
Your motivation and encouragement
Has taught them not to quit
The time has come to go to secondary
And continue to spread their wings
They’re all excited to be going there
To learn so many new things
So thank you to the teachers and all
the staff, you really are the best
Having your support throughout their
time here, means they’ve been truly blessed.

Anyone fancy having a go at this fun anagram style quiz? One of our lovely teachers has put this together, you might win £10, and all proceeds go to school…. Send us a message if you’d like a copy 👍
Class 2 had a fab day trip today - First was a tour of Lancaster Castle , to tie in with recent lessons in school, there was lots to take in, and they enjoyed being shown the prison areas, that were used as a prison until as recently as 2011. They listened carefully to stories about the “witches”, and spent time sketching the castle itself….
Then onto Williamson Park for a visit to the Butterfly House, loads to see, butterflies landing on heads, terrapins swimming, a tortoise having a bath, a chameleon, lots of huge fish, and learning about the life cycle of butterflies and moths…. A really fun day was had by all!!
Our fundraising Quiz Night and Raffle, last night, was a roaring success.
Really well supported, a great fun evening for all, that managed to raise a pretty impressive £1412.00 for our school!!
