Peace be to this congregation;
Peace to every heart therein;
Peace, the earnest of salvation;
Peace, the fruit of conquered sin;
Peace, that speaks the heavenly Giver;
Peace, to wordly minds unknown;
Peace, that floweth as a river
From th’eternal source alone.
O Thou God of peace, be near us,
Fix within our hearts Thy home;
With Thy bright appearing cheer us,
In Thy blessed freedom come.
Come with all Thy revelations,
Truth which we so long have sought;
Come with Thy deep consolations,
Peace of God which passeth thought.
Christian Science Hymnal 276
the Lord my God hath given me rest on every side, so there is neither adversary nor evil occurrent.
The Bible: 1 Kings 5:the
God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
The Bible. 1 John: 5
Peace in a moment of despair, support without judgement or condemnation, inspiration when you are feeling blocked–these tangible expressions of goodness are what an understanding of God brings to each of us. This goodness is a presence, a power above all human or material laws. A knowledge of this goodness, or God, linked with active, trusting prayer, can overcome inharmony and bring healing in your life.
‘There is a real source of good–never stopping, always present, everywhere, for whatever problem you are facing. Knowing this goodness, God, as reliable and all good, linked with active, trusting prayer, can overcome inharmony and bring wellbeing to your life.’ Monique Hertgen, CSB
Monique Hertgen, CSB is a Christian Science practitioner, teacher, and member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship.
You are warmly welcome to this Christian Science lecture 'How understanding God can meet our needs' by Monique Hertgen. It will take place this Saturday 20 April at 3pm in our church building 45 Hare Lane, Claygate KT10 9BY.

The Bible. Psalms 4:8
For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.
Instead of the thorn shall come up the fir tree, and instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree: and it shall be to the Lord for a name, for an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off.
The Bible: Isaiah 55:12,13

unto all people, nations, and languages, that dwell in all the earth; Peace be multiplied unto you. (The Bible. Daniel 4.1 unto)
Spirit, God, gathers unformed thoughts into their proper channels, and unfolds these thoughts, even as He opens the petals of a holy purpose in order that the purpose may appear.

This half hour talk on Christian Science by Melanie Wahlberg, CS is brought to you by various Christian Science churches and societies from across the UK.
When we feel overwhelmed by life’s problems, we may want to try to get more from the world. But when we do the opposite–give more of ourselves or focus on the God-given qualities we already have to express or contribute, we find that we end up not lacking anything. Really, we gain the unexpected good of joy, health, and strength that move our lives and the world forward.
Joy to the world, the Lord is come,
Let earth receive her King;
Let every heart prepare him room,
And heaven and nature sing.
No more let sin and sorrow grow,
Nor thorns infest the ground;
Where’er he comes, his blessings flow;
And hope and joy abound.
He rules the world with truth and grace,
And makes the nations prove
The glories of his righteousness
And wonders of his love.
Christian Scinece Hymnal 164
... The basis of Christmas is love loving its enemies, returning good for evil, love that “suffereth long, and is kind.”
(The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, Mary Baker Eddy, p. 260: 21–23)
Together with several other Christian Science churches across the UK we are sponsoring an online Christmas lecture on Christmas Day 25th December 4pm UK time.

How excellent is Thy lovingkindness, O God! Therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings. (Psalms 36:7|)
Thus founded upon the rock of Christ, when storm and tempest beat against this sure foundation, you, safely sheltered in the strong tower of hope, faith, and Love, are God’s nestlings; and He will hide you in His feathers till the storm has passed.
(Miscellaneous Writings 1883–1896, Mary Baker Eddy, p. 152:22–26)
As a drop of water is one with the ocean, a ray of light one with the sun, even so God and man, Father and son, are one in being. The Scripture reads: “For in Him we live, and move, and have our being.”
(Message to The Mother Church for 1902, Mary Baker Eddy, p. 12:16)
Spirit, God, gathers unformed thoughts into their proper channels, and unfolds these thoughts, even as He opens the petals of a holy purpose in order that the purpose may appear.
(Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy, p. 506:18)
Then they cried unto the Lord in their trouble, and he saved them out of their distresses.
He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and brake their bands in sunder.
Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!
(Psalms 107:13–15)
Father, we thank Thee that Thy light and Thy love reach earth, open the prison to them that are bound, console the innocent, and throw wide the gates of heaven.
Miscellaneous Writings 1883-1896 by Mary Baker Eddy, page 275:
One infinite God, good, unifies men and nations; constitutes the brotherhood of man; ends wars; fulfils the Scripture, “Love thy neighbor as thyself;” annihilates pagan and Christian idolatry, — whatever is wrong in social, civil, criminal, political, and religious codes; equalizes the sexes; annuls the curse on man, and leaves nothing that can sin, suffer, be punished or destroyed.
