Several St Mary’s Parkrun regulars were spotted in the village of Coombe Keynes this morning for the Coombe Keynes 10K. It proved to be an undulating (very hilly!) warm (very hot! 🥵) 10K run!

The stunning Dorset countryside, fabulous marshals, friendly fellow runners and the post run tea and cake made up for the challenging course.
There were also some great achievements with many coming in the top 3 of their age categories.

For many Parkrun is where their running journey beganimage0.jpeg

It’s always nice to see a friendly face to help calm the pre race nerves! Hopefully see some of you next Sunday to celebrate St Mary’s 5th Birthday!

Hi there fab parkrunners. This weekend at St Mary’s the football club has its annual junior tournament so it’s going to be a busy park. We are, of course, going ahead as usual and all are welcome but we thought we should let you know as the car park may be busier than usual and you may need to be on the lookout for wayward footballs!

See you on Saturday
Your core team.

We have no toilets onsite- nearest in south street car park/ Leisure centre .
Coffee available after at Rockburn - do join us.

Please note - this is a *very narrow* course in places. Please keep dogs on a short hand held lead. Please do not cluster too many abreast particularly near allotments path where it is narrow and the houses part of the course.
Please be quiet near the houses .
Please give way to other park users and don’t crowd them and be kind and respectful at all times. We all share the park - please make it a nice place to be for everyone to be.

Here's last Saturday's run report (St Mary's #185)St Marys parkrun run report 11th May 2024

I was in Dorset on holiday so being Saturday, I headed for the nearest parkrun, St Marys parkrun.

Now you know that a parkrun is small and has plenty of regulars when you arrive and are immediately spotted as a tourist. However I was made to feel very welcome so this was not a problem.

The weather gods were kind as it was a dry, sunny day, warm without being too hot. A near perfect day for running.

First timers briefing and there were quite a few tourists. It’s a three-lap course, fairly flat, but in one section you are asked to keep quiet as the run goes past the front of some houses. Some folks in Bridport are still in their beds at 0900. Let’s be generous and assume they are shift workers.

Off to the start and away we went. Although it’s a three-lap course, it isn’t boring, and although there are some out and back parts, as everyone kept left as requested, this was not a problem.

Soon parkrun run was over. First home was Matthew Adams in just 17.15 (I could not finish two laps in this time, so he is super quick). First lady home was Jordi Adams in 22.09, a new PB for her!

Thanks as always to all the volunteers.

What an eventful parkrun we had last Saturday. The closure of another local run brought us just short of 200 runners!

With minutes to go, the local football club decided to drain their pitch and laid a pipe across the path, a bit of quick thinking by the RD and a spare marshal was found to oversee the new water feature.

We also had a photographer out, so here's the first lot of pictures of the start.

Merry Christmas !
