Don't forget grandfather rights will no longer be applicable soon.

If you or any of your staff hold a CSCS or CPCS card gained under Industry Accreditation (grandfather rights) it will expire at the end of 2024.

However this doesn't mean you need to go back to college to renew your card it can simply be done by completing an NVQ qualification. NVQ qualifications are evidence based for experienced workers so you can complete the NVQ by providing the evidence required and a formal site visit. The basic structure of most NVQ's is as follows:

It’s better to be ready in advance of 31st December 2024, so if you do need to complete a qualification, the sooner you start the better. Qualification can take between 2 - 6 months to complete , but it is possible to complete them in a shorter period of time.

Grandfather Rights

Industry accredited CSCS cards can be renewed until 30th June 2024, but all cards renewed under the scheme will expire on 31st December 2024'. A decision which has evoked mixed reaction, for sure - but what does this mean to those currently holding a card through Industry Accreditation?

In brief, to obtain a card of the same colour after 2024, you will need to complete a relevant Construction NVQ. People who have achieved recognised Diplomas, such as NEBOSH, or hold recognised Construction Degrees, or are members of recognised Professional Bodies (such as CIOB), will be able to obtain an AQP or PQP Card (Academically or Professionally Qualified Person).

If you require an NVQ to renew your CSCS Card, it's important that you receive the correct advice. There is a lot of conflicting, or incorrect, information provided from different sources, and you need to ensure whichever qualification you pursue, is actually the right one for you. What's more, your NVQ should be planned, with some flexibility in assessment methods - it shouldn't be like returning to school, and shouldn't necessarily take ages to complete.

You would need previous experience of working for a training provider selling Health & Safety training courses, or have a good understanding of the construction industry and the training courses within that sector.

We are currently looking for a proactive Training Coordinator / Business Development person, to join our busy team.

This role is remote working, and we have some flexibility on the hours worked each day. Standard hours are 8.30am - 4.30pm, some flexibility maybe required to suit business needs.

Salary £21000 - £28000 basic depending on experience

National Water Hygiene

Water companies across the UK mostly mandate National Water Hygiene for individuals entering clean water sites or engaged in operations on the clean water network, whether in direct contact with water or not.

I wanted to remind you that CITB qualifications are valid for 5 years but there is no grace period from the CITB anymore, if they expire you will need to do the full course again.

You would be surprised just how many people contact us to ask if they can renew their SSSTS or SMSTS qualifications once they have run out. Sadly in most instances that is not possible, and they end up having to resit the whole five day or 2 day course again at greater expense - not just for the course but also because they have to take additional time off work.

NEW COURSE: MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID ONLINE
This new course has now been added to our Mental Health & Wellbeing Suite within our online training course portfolio.
Around 25 per cent of the UK population will experience a mental health problem at some point in their lives. Most are mild, tend to be short-term and are usually treated successfully with therapy and medication.
But it is still a significant problem. Mental Health First Aid teaches participants how to notice and support individuals who may be experiencing mental health issues or exhibiting the signs of substance use in a work environment. They are also taught how to connect those people with appropriate help from fellow employees, community resources or healthcare professionals.
The course introduces the subject and outlines the benefits of Mental Health first aid and workplace wellness schemes. It then goes on to cover the effects of stress on individuals and teams and discusses how stress and mental health are linked.
It then covers the roles of employers, managers and employees in ensuring that a Mental Health First Aid programme is successful. It concludes with a series of practical examples of how to apply mental health first aid to real situations, how to support employees who are experiencing mental health issues and where to point them for further help and advice.
