It’s been a minute! With moving house and unpacking boxes, uploading my clinical photos has been slow I’m sorry!

Here’s an interesting case:
Patient: I’d love a fuller more finished smile but my time and resources are limited.

The patient presents with worn teeth however they are not overlapped. He does have a difficult bite where the lower and upper teeth have little room between them, and cross over like an under bite in the canine area.

I explained that correcting his bite would lead to a far better result that lasts longer. Without improving the bite the length of the bonding, and the number of teeth that I could place composite bonding on would be affected. I also couldn’t guarantee how long the bonding would last as due to a lack of space, naturally there is a higher risk of the teeth chipping. He was willing to take this compromise and I explained that a trial smile would show him just what his teeth could look like.

We planned the smile and carefully designed it to suit the bite the best way we could. Once we tried the smile in the patients mouth, he could be sure that it was truly what he wanted. He was ready to go ahead and within a few weeks, had a whiter, more fuller smile!

When considering a smile makeover, a common question I receive is whether to reshape just the top teeth or both the top and bottom teeth.

First, I often straighten the teeth to eliminate any overlaps, as this is typically the most noticeable imperfection.

Next, I recontour teeth using composite bonding or veneers to enhance symmetry and shape, which cannot be achieved through straightening alone.

People frequently wonder if they should bother reshaping their bottom teeth like they do their top ones.

The answer depends on what matters to you and how much of your lower teeth are visible when you talk or laugh. For instance, I show a lot of my lower teeth when I speak, but you can determine this by observing yourself in the mirror.

In Mandy’s case, she had both her top and bottom teeth recontoured. I believe reshaping her bottom teeth completed her smile beautifully, ensuring her lower arch wasn’t left untreated.

Sometimes we lose ourselves in the mundane day to day chores and work commitments. Recently I started having Cognitive Behaviour Hypnotherapy and one thing I realised is that I am my own inner bully; I have a habit of putting everything and everyone in front of my own needs. It’s something I havent thought so much about, until CBT helped me to realise that it was blocking me from making some important changes in my life. Simple habit changes that I knew could unlock the life that I wish for myself - the one I know I am worthy of. Why did it seem so far to reach but so clear to think about?

There is always a reason, and in my case it was deep rooted trauma and self-directed thinking that is stopping me. It’s hard to understand and deeply imbedded in my subconscious from past experiences which could be as simple as attitudes when I was growing up.

Slowly Unlocking this is my journey this year to living more in the way which serves me and my desire to live life with love, with meaning and fullness and with a true sense of contentment and fullfilment.

What this looks like, is different for each and every person, even from the person that we share our life with - and thats okay. We can live in harmony with each other whilst respecting each other’s beliefs and desires.

Facing inner challenges and trauma isn’t easy. But each strand we unravel feels like a new breath, a step into the life we’ve always wanted. That is the best feeling.

It’s crazy how much marketing can shape and mold our opinion of certain brands. Let’s be real - it’s because marketing works!⁠⁠

The marketing thrown at children these days, with highly processed foods is really irritating. So many boxes covered in cartoons and colourful imagery trying to draw kids in.⁠⁠

The Hawaiian Punch for example is pretty much just water & high fructose corn syrup with food dyes! Less that 2% is made from real fruit juices yet the company happily displays all the wonderful fruit on the front of the package.⁠⁠

As for gatorade, the amount of marketing tying that brand in with pro-athletes is unbelievable. Yet, a simple choice like coconut water full of natural electrolytes and natural sugars would be much better than all the filler ingredients added to this drink along with the blue food dye. There’s some more options for athletes in the third graphic.⁠⁠

Water is also such an under appreciated macronutrient but I’m advocating we start putting water back on its pedestal! If you’re looking to add more flavor to your daily water, try incorporating fresh fruits or herbs in your batches of water.⁠⁠
