Members who've seen the latest 'Talyllyn News' will have seen the exciting Stop Press, which includes the news that we have decided that our preferred plan for Pendre is Option C.
However, it also comes with a challenge that we need to raise, or have committed, the remaining funding as soon as possible. Therefore, if you haven't donated to The 75 Appeal yet or signed up as a regular donor with 'The 75 Club', please do so.

A blast from the past, that boy is me with my father, mucking about in the early 1980s where I was learning to drive the digger. Behind is 6039, a beyer garratt 4-8-4+4-8-4 locomotive, one of around 30 locomotives in the collection. Nice fun memories.
Here in Tywyn, Southern Snowdonia, Wales, we got a great display of the Aurora lights tonight. It was surreal.
Busy in the workshop and the music from "Top Gun" movie, playing over the speakers! Hopefully the danger zone doesn't involve me and the first aid kit!
Just watching this YouTube video which includes metal forging, a fascinating process that in many parts is consigned to history.

Working hard in the workshop and listening to my favourite radio station https://www.australiantruckradio.com.au/
If you aren't in Australia, then don't allow it to know your location.
This radio station has a lot of laughs between the songs, and the songs are country, rock, pop, heavy metal, and many others. They even play some 90s dance as well.
Check them out, thanks.

Good afternoon from Pendre, Talyllyn Railway
The sun is out and plenty of work to do, volunteer if you like, always welcome.
I've been a quiet chap at the moment, Railway Modeller have a deal that when you subscribe to their magazine you get full access to their archives going back to 1949, Issue 1. Needless to say, there is so much useful details in there to keep me quiet for a good amount of time to come, and the articles are downloadable too! Happy days. :)
Going back through some family history down my father's mothers side, and found my Great Uncle who died in World War 1, Seargent Joseph Henry Winterbottom. Two relations served on the Somme, and unfortunately Joseph died.
Joseph Henry Winterbottom Joseph Henry Winterbottom's name is located at panel 35 in the Commemorative Area at the Australian War Memorial (as indicated by the poppy on the plan).
This will be a grand sight on completion, two London & South Western Railway 4-4-0 tender steam engines running at the same time, thanks to the Swanage Railway Trust 563 Locomotive Group
If you can help, it would be much appreciated, thank you. :)
The 563LG is delighted to launch Project 120!
We have made no secrets about our intention to undertake the restoration of the the T9 once 563 was finished. We hope that you are as excited by the prospect of the two LSWR 4-4-0’s working together as we are?
Our partnership with the T9’s owners, the National Railway Museum, has grown and deepened since the loco arrived at Swanage needing repair in 2017. Not only was the necessary work quickly completed to their satisfaction, but of course they have been very keen to see how we have looked after 563 since it was transferred to the Trust later that same year.
We are therefore pleased to have reached a new agreement with the Museum to initially assess the condition of the locomotive, ahead of a commitment to return her to steam for further service on the Swanage Railway.
This approach is very much the same process we adopted with the T3, except this time we have experience from 563 and we already have a fantastic group of supporters but we're always looking forward to welcoming more...
We've created a new page on our website which you can visit for more details and importantly how you can donate! www.563locomotivegroup.co.uk/project120

Can you help Friends of 44422 with their enquiry please, thanks.
Earlier this year 44422 underwent an external repaint, and since then the loco is to normally be found on display at Cheddleton station.
Whilst work is ongoing behind the scenes, we are looking to relaunch a website giving the history and significance of the locomotive to the railway community.
If anyone has any pictures of the loco in operation (both prior and since preservation) that we could utilise with this, could you please email ourselves at [email protected] with a low res copy. Full acknowledgment will be given for any images utilised.
Kind Regards

A customer ordered a set of driving wheels from me (he saw my coal tank wheels) for a London and North Western Railway A class 0-8-0 tender locomotive and here they are, ready for posting. Only one set of crank pins were requested, gauged to 33mm (scale 7mm standards) and the axles have correct dimples in the ends. They came out nice, with my 3D printed centres and turned up EN8 steel tyres.
What a huge load to cross the Nevada Northern Railway, those rigs are massive. :o
