For our February meeting, 11 hardy souls braved freezing temperatures to visit Errington Cheese in Walston. We spent a lovely afternoon learning about cheese making, and visiting to goats, lambs and pigs. Thanks to Duneaton Community Council for awarding us a grant from the Ventient Energy Glenkerie fund to enable our trip.

For our next meeting (in the village hall on Wednesday March 6th at 7.30pm), A. Poppy Browne will be talking about felt-making. She will be bringing along some items of her work and discussing the techniques she uses. There will be an opportunity to make a felted flower if you wish, but no need to if you prefer to move straight to refreshments. We look forward to seeing you there.

A fantastic talk yesterday evening from Patricia West from Lanark. She talked about her training in textiles and journey into creating pictures with fabric and free-motion embroidery.
We’d had this talk scheduled for March three years in a row, so it was great finally to be able to welcome Patricia to Roberton, and well worth the wait!

At the February meeting, we enjoyed a talk about modern dairy farming methods and milk production from Jennifer Baillie, Hillhead Of Covington, followed by a chance to sample some of their milkshakes.

We had our first afternoon meeting yesterday. Well done to everyone for braving the strong winds and heavy rain.
Roma French gave an excellent talk on the history of the corset and showed us some of her lovely work.

What an amazing turnout yesterday for Mike French’s wonderful talk on the history of Roberton! Such an interesting evening and a chance to meet our neighbours - old and new. But the biggest thanks has to go to Mike for creating the talk: a detailed and well researched presentation, giving us a real insight into the history of the village and the people that have lived here over the centuries.
