Meg's Mindful Movement
Bringing Mindfulness to all, regardless of age or ability through movement & meditation. Promoting I have studied Iyengar Yoga for 10 years.
I first became interested in Mindfulness when I read an article about stress by Professor Mark Williams of Oxford University in 2011. Do you have a Monkey Mind?
Someone who does not practise mindfulness can be liken to a monkey aimlessly swinging along from branch to branch. Their mind is Monkey Mind, lost in thoughts, in the past, in the future, getting pulled from thought to thought, in a state of continual stress, anxiety and tension. Monkey Mind is described as ‘Auto-Pilot’ – just bumbling your way through life, unaware, not noticing this present moment that we are living in. Listening but not hearing, eating but not tasting and seeing without really seeing.
When we begin to practise mindfulness, working with a sense of patience, non-judging, non-striving, acceptance and letting go, seeing each experience as if it were the first time we had experienced it. (Beginners Mind). We can step out of Auto-pilot and begin to notice the wanderings of the mind, we notice how we are feeling (emotions) and how we are holding our bodies (tense).
The main benefits of mindfulness are a reduction in anxiety, stress and tension in the mind and body.
Here’s a quote from Jon Kabat Zinn who created the MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Course)Mindfulness means paying attention in a particular way: on purpose, in the present moment and non-judgementally.

The 8 sessions for the course will be on Zoom from 11am to 12.30pm on the following days:

With its compassionate framework, the Mindfulness Based Living Course (MBLC) offers a variety of tools for coping with long term health conditions. Mindfulness can support participants to manage both unpleasant physical and emotional aspects of their condition for more functional living over the longer term and getting their lives back on track. This is supported by peer review scientific research in that mindfulness based approaches can support and compliment self management strategies such as enhanced sleep, pain management, pacing and resting alongside clinical input.
All participants will be given the course handbook (audio book and PDF format), as well as audio recordings of the guided meditations to practice at home.
For a registration form to join this free course, please email Daniel (admin) at [email protected]
