We have successfully secured a significant project for the replacement of existing pitch and flat roof coverings, and upvc domes at a primary school in Southampton.

This exciting project is being executed in three phases, with an expected completion in September 2024, ensuring a safe learning environment for students to return to after summer.

We are set to start work at this university in a couple of weeks. The project involves external re-roofing, including repairs and re-covering, of teaching blocks and chemistry stores.

PROJECT UPDATE

We are in the process of completing a full roof replacement to a three-story block of residential flats in Chertsey.

To minimise disruption to the surrounding residential properties, we're working during regular office hours and keeping residents and neighbours informed of potential impacts prior to work commencing.

We are delighted to be able to make a donation of £300,000 to The Outward Bound Trust, to help fund courses at their centres across the UK.

Outward Bound is an outdoor learning and educational charity dedicated to providing transformative experiences for young people in the UK. Helping to inspire, empower, and equip them with the confidence and abilities they need to navigate the challenges of life and make a positive impact on their communities.

PROJECT UPDATE

We have successfully completed this CIF Roofing project at Park View School. The project included new roofing and velux windows, with soffits left to complete once the scaffolding is down.

⭐PROJECT SECURED⭐

Following completion of the RAAC replacement works to the Junior School and Sport Complex at Bedford Modern School, we have been awarded a further phase.

We will shortly commence RAAC replacement works to the Main School, which includes a new L1 Fire Alarm System, AHU and Heat Recovery System and all internal finishes.

⭐PROJECT SECURED⭐

Following the completion of Phase 1, we have now successfully secured a second phase at Lincroft School, with a contract value in excess of £11.2m. The project has been procured via the Everything FM Framework.

We look forward to starting in the coming weeks with completion in late 2025.

We’re delighted to announce that we have been appointed to LHC Procurement Group Refurbishment and Modernisation (RM3) Framework for LHC London and South East (LSE), to deliver important maintenance and improvement works for the public sector.

We have successfully completed the replacement of both pitched and flat roofs across five buildings, along with the installation of new CCTV cameras for this school in Gillingham.

A £3.5M modular build complete for an Academy client in Leicester. This project included a new build canteen extension, coach house refurbishment and MUGA.

New build extension secured for a valued Multi Academy Trust Client. This project will involve the construction of a new hall and main entrance, which may then lead to the refurbishment internally to allow for the creation of much required SEND support spaces.

NATIONAL APPRENTICESHIP WEEK! 🎓⭐

Did you know that we not only provide support for site-based apprenticeships but also offer opportunities within office-based roles?

Let's introduce you to Abi, our Apprentice Quantity Surveyor.

Abi is currently approaching the halfway mark in her Chartered Surveyor Degree Apprenticeship Level 6, specialising in Quantity Surveying & Construction, which includes working towards a BSc (HONS) degree.

Abi was drawn to an apprenticeship-based role to acquire hands-on experience in the industry while simultaneously pursuing her qualifications. This approach allows her to develop crucial practical skills and incur minimal debt compared to solely attending university.

NATIONAL APPRENTICESHIP WEEK! 🎓⭐

Meet Zach, one of our trainee’s specialising in flat roofing. He is currently undergoing training at our CITB approved Training Centre and gaining practical experience alongside our experienced team on-site.

In addition to this, we have also provided Zach with driving lesson support to aid in his professional development towards becoming a skilled roofing operative, with the ultimate aim of leading his own team.

Today, our CITB-approved Training Centre welcomed Regional Councillor Pinder Chauha and Andrew Lewer MBE MP.

Engaging in conversations with our Training Director and Head of Recruitment, they discussed all things recruitment, apprenticeships and career prospects within the industry.

M&J are starting on a £4.5m building refurbishment at a College in Cambridgeshire, which will convert an existing 4-storey tower block into a net zero building complete with Air Source Heat Pump and Solar PV.

Congratulations to our Flat and Pitched Trainees of the Year. Both have been recognised for their improved performance in and out of the Training Centre.

Last week, the M&J Group delivered an Introduction to Construction via The Bedford Blues Foundation (https://www.bluesfoundation.org.uk/) to Biddenham International School.

This interactive afternoon allowed students to take part on the purpose-built rigs, engage in conversations with both trainees and employees who cover various manual and non-manual positions within the company.

Following the successful refurbishment of the pitched roof at The Thomas Alleyne Academy, we were invited back to the Academy to showcase and demonstrate the craft of roofing to students across different year groups.

Our dedicated flat and pitched training managers conducted interactive workshops and engaged in conversations with students throughout the day, particularly those who expressed an interest in pursuing a career in the construction industry in the future.

Work experience complete! ✅

Yesterday, we were delighted to welcome students from Redborne Upper School & Community College and Bedford Academy for a two-day work experience program.

The students had the opportunity to engage in a diverse range of activities that combined practical, hands-on learning with classroom-based sessions, including:

🟡 A comprehensive site Health and Safety induction led by our SHEQ Director
🟡 An introduction tiling and slating
🟡 Friendly competitions to see who could tile the table top demo rig the fastest
🟡 A detailed introduction to flat roofing techniques

Additionally, the students had a valuable opportunity to participate in a Q&A session with our CEO and Estimating Director. During this session, they had the chance to ask questions about the qualifications, inspirations, and personal experiences that have shaped their careers in the construction industry.
