Thanks for sending the latest 2011 Comtes de Champagne Rosé (12.5%).
100% Grand Cru fruit harvested in 2011, an early ripening year with low Springtime rainfall, vines flexing to deliver top quality.
Thanks to a generous sq**rt of red wine, the colour has a deep peach-rose glow and the profile is also intriguingly intense.
Aromas of pastry and almond (thanks to more than ten years lees ageing) a taut coil of lemon rind around fleshy strawberries, pink grapefruit zap and a savoury subtlety (think fragrant mushrooms).
I savoured the rich red berry power of this wine, viscosity contrasting superbly with elegant bubbles coursing from its core. A heady halo of redcurrant, pink grapefruit around a sense of glossy sundried tomato depth.
My wife and I celebrate our wedding anniversary each year on 7th September with a bottle of Taittinger Comtes de Champagne so it was lovely to raise an early glass of this rare rosé Champagne to our 21st coming up in September.
Total treat, bon weekend one and all.

Fab festival sampling the latest vino from
Discovery of the night was “Né sous X”, a blend of near-lost local varieties including Pédebernade 1, Dubosc 1 & 2, Chacolis et Negrets de Banhars - a red with the soul of black cherry yoghurt, served cool delivering top to toe fruity refreshment.
Penultimate photo taking a bow with his exceptional band - I obeyed the stern request not to photograph or film while playing - epic music, the performance of dreams from ole featherfingers.
Magic to see different varieties of vines thoughout the town proudly on display in the heart of a community with roots in the vineyards attracting the world’s finest jazz musicians to their celebrations. Warmly recommend a visit if you’re a music and wine fan like me.
