Hey Hey it’s a beautiful day and our Residents are out enjoying Candlestick’s refurbished terrace garden it’s lovely and cool early on then a gorgeous sun trap in the afternoon why not use it when you next come and visit?? 🌞☀️🔆🕶☕️

Our beautiful secret garden at the back of our house is so lovely and produces amazing lavender every year. This year our Residents decided to harvest it, dry it and make lavender bags to freshen our wardrobes and pop under our pillows to help us sleep😴😴😴😴

Watermill always loves an animal encounter and this week our friends from Zoolab dropped by with some interesting specimens🕷🕷🕷🐍🐍🐍🦗🦗🦗

Everything is in place for a wonderful kids picnic this coming Friday 26th July.

Not many old fashioned markets around these days but we are blessed to have Leighton Buzzard not too far away. Our lady explorers were out and about today enjoying a potter amongst the stalls finished up with some lovely lunch. Wish Wednesday isn’t always about the big wishes but the smaller more important ones like enjoying the freedom to shop for yourself with a friend to support you. Helen needed to update her wardrobe and Jenny was more than happy to offer a helping hand.

Anna is our resident artist here at Watermill and she has supported residents in all forms of art and craft over the years this is a session using watercolour that the residents really enjoyed.
Coming soon is a traditional art session which will be held in the ground floor lounge working with easels for those residents who want to take a more serious approach to their art. We welcome family and friends to join in these sessions if you are interested please let Reception know. More details to follow🖌🎨🖼✍️

Thanks to our mini volunteers at Nash Mills Primary School who always bring such a lovely energy to Watermill when they visit us. Yesterday they did some planting for us and then played football and tag in the garden. So many residents enjoyed their visit ,some in person ,others looked on from their bedrooms enjoying watching the children play⚽️⚽️🎾🏸🥍

Relaxing jigsaws reach a new level when shared with a friend. Ruth and Judith really enjoyed doing this together and were super proud of the finished result and during the process they made friends🧩🧩🧩🧩🧩🧩🧩🧩🧩🧩🧩🧩🧩

At the start of June 2024 I set a photo competition for Team Watermill with the theme “Capture the moment” and I’m so pleased to announce that this photo taken by Zhora Cahed a Carer on Candlesticks is our winner. Featuring two beautiful women In Roxanna one of our night Carers and the wonderful Judith. It is clear to see the relationship between these two women and the moment is very moving. Well done Zhora who wins £50 Amazon voucher. I hope this initiative encourages our team to remain vigilant to capture moments in our residents day to day lives to share with friends, family and each other.📸🥰😜💕♥️💖

Celebrating our Kings Birthday parade this coming weekend we held our own party yesterday.

Trooping the Colour has been a ceremony to mark the Sovereign's birthday (the one they all celebrate in June, rather than Charles' human birthday which is on 14 November). The five regiments of Foot Guards (Grenadier, Coldstream, Scots, Irish and Welsh Guards) take it in turns to parade in front of the monarch in a highly-orchestrated inspection on Horse Guards Parade.

We had a riotous Royal Quiz with Elaine as quizmaster followed by an afternoon high tea.

Trooping the colour will be on BBC 1 on Saturday morning.
