Imbali Crafts specialises in teaching various art forms like wire, ganutel, micro macrame and macrame via Zoom or physical workshops. Its beginnings were on Etsy selling handmade macrame jewellery but I soon discovered my love for teaching. I began teaching on various online sites such as Craft Art Edu and Adventure Arts Retreats. I also write downloadable tutorials for my own website and do plent
I was away last week, but came back on Wednesday and have been finising off the latest pendant! For this one, there is a video tutorial, a PDF option, and a kit + tutorial option. I haven't made a PDF option in a while, so I am pleased to get back to doing that. Someone mentioned that the pendant looked like a ram's head, and it does a bit! That could potentially be expanded a bit.
Also, it's Friday!!! ππ

I have not had a chance to make a new tutorial just now so I am sharing an old one for valentines! This was one of my first tutorials I made a few years ago.
Three more weeks before I hand over the book manuscript, and things will be back to normal!! π₯΄π
I don't have a kit for this one, but I have many others available on my website and etsy shop. I am currently running various discounts, as well!

I have been meaning to do a tutorial on how to set a crystal since forever, but never got around to actually get some crystals in to do it! When I got my hands on these lodolites, I knew I had to lol. I love the way these have been cut, and polished and I had to try and set one so that most of the stone shows.

Came across this on ebay just now. π³
For just Β£80 you can own this certificate for an authentic, genuine diamond, no stone included, mind you.
I get that you can't really please everyone all of the time, and I really am open to constructive criticism because it helps me improve my content, but sometimes I am taken aback by the things some people say. This was a lady voicing her annoyance that I had included at list of the supplies I use to do my polishing. I mean, if you just want a short clip on the technique and not the whole spiel, I can understand, but why the need to behave like that??
I knew these would be popular but never thought they would be THAT popular π³ These dragon vein cabs sold out within the first two weeks of launching them! I have just got new stock in. There is a 10% discount until the end of July. 12% off for orders over Β£50 and 15% off for orders over Β£125. Links are here: πhttps://www.imbalicrafts.com/

I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, but I personally have a fondness for anything fluorescent. I like to use naturally fluorecent stones such as ruby, fluorite or hyalite, for instance, but I do have a soft spot for uranium glass, too! (I collect it)
This is my latest tutorial using a 10 mm undrilled uranium glass sphere. (Available in a kit or on their own in my shop)
π
Here is a bit of history for those that are interested:
Uranium glass was first discovered in the 1830's by Josef Reidel. It became indcredibly popular for its amazing colour but its production was banned in the 1940's due to the strategic importance of uranium salts in world war ll. All restrictions were subsequently lifted, and uranium glass is now still produced in small quantities at a handfull of factories worldwide. According the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission "The level of radioactivity varies by piece, ranging from less than 1 percent to up to 25 percent by weight, but there is no recognized danger to handling or using uranium glass".

Right, where's my tin foil hat at... ππ
The OH was having a (very nutritiousπ) lunch of soba noodles and I thought to myself that should go and have that as well since it's quick, and I am busy today. Forgot about it and went onto pinterest for some design inspiration when this popped up. I am convinced someone laced my last Costa latte with mind-control microbots to spam me taylored advertising. ππ
Finished with the tutorial edit today and it's up on my website with the very creative title of, wait for it... 'Acorn'. π€£
For some reason I really struggled with naming this one. We even had a family 'meeting' last night but my husband and son's name ideas were just as bad as mine, 'cause I married an engineer, then produced two more, so artistic input of this nature is in very short supply in our house. π
Anyhow, because it reminds me of Scrat's acorn (from the movie ace age) that's what it's called.
As always, a kit is available on my website. Any orders over Β£35 include a little gemstone or crystal gift until the 10 of July!

It's that time of the year again! Two weeks until the next Gartmore wire work retreat! I taught my first course there last year and can't wait to go back. It is a such a privilege to teach in a place as beautiful as this.
There are usually several types of courses running concurrently, so if wire work is not your thing, there are quite a few other genres to choose from.
π
If you're local, (or even if you're not) and fancy a week-long crafting holiday in rural Scotland, this is something you might want to look at. I will be teaching a variety of wire work techniques, which I usually taylor to the group once I have an idea of everyones skill level.
There is a lot of chatting going on and we always have a laugh, especially when the wine comes out at dinner time lol.
I met a true inspiration there on my last course. Her name is Norma. Norma just turned 85, and she loves to parachute!!! I want to be like Norma if I make it to 85!!

So they are fiiiinally done. I don't know why, but this tutorial was a lot more challenging to make than normal and it also seemed to take forever π
Buut it was all worth it, I love how these ear cuffs came out. I now need to find an excuse to go out so that I can actually wear them and not let them collect dust at home. Shouldn't be a problem, living in Edinburgh lol.
I like them so I am reluctant to list them for sale. (So she says, but I know I can't just keep all the pieces I like lol.)
Anyhow, these ear cuffs are a little more involved to make as they are made with heavier wire gauges and use coiled gem settings which is not the easiest if you're new to wire work. Having said that, if you don't like to use coil settings, you could use drilled beads instead.
Unfortunately they didn't photograph as well as I'd hoped just placed on a slate, and my mannequin has weird, tiny little ears, so to show how they sit on a person, you get to look at my grumpy mug modeling them as an added 'treat' lol.
Facebook is doing something weird, so we are told to put links in the comments to avoid old Zuck hiding your content, so links are in the comments below. π
Making progress! I am still deciding if I am going to make it multicolour or just green. Thoughts? π€
Shared from an artist friend. Hits home way more than I care to admit lol. I should really get out more, but my wardrobe mainly consists of gym or ride gear so I'd have a hard time looking presentable anyway lol π€£

First installment of the filigree series. In this, first video, I go through the wire making process. There are various techniques but this is what I found, worked best for me. As I have mentioned before, I do all of my soldering work with a butane torch because I live in a flat and can't have acetylene or propane cylinders so you don't need hi-tech equipment to try out soldering.

Quick little tutorial using a drilled bead as the focal so this one is suitable for beginners minus the accent stone setting, obviously, but you can used drilled beads instead of the facet cut. It's a good starter tutorial that will help you get used to some of the base weaves used in wire wrapping.

There is a free video for it on youtube, a frame PDF (for those that don't like to doodle) and a full kit available on my (hopefully functioning π) website. Oh and the piece itself is also available.
