Saturday 7th December, 1:30-4pm
Ironworks Studios, BN1 4GD
FREE but please book at https://www.outsavvy.com/event/23537/trans-non-binary-and-inters*x-archiving-workshop

Join Q***r Heritage South and The Clare Project to explore the vibrant trans, non-binary and inters*x history of Brighton & Hove and contribute to a growing digital community archive!

For more than 10 years, Q***r Heritage South has been celebrating the and promoting the rich cultural life of LGBTQIA+ people in Brighton & Hove through heritage activities. Now home to a growing digital archive (https://www.queerheritagesouth.co.uk/s/queer-heritage-south/page/collections), Q***r Heritage South seeks to preserve often-overlooked stories and artefacts integral to Brighton & Hove's LGBTQIA+ history. This interactive workshop will explore the power of personal narratives in shaping the archive and celebrate the wide range of objects and ephemera that enrich our understanding of TNBI history. Participants will have the opportunity to catalogue and digitise their own personal items to be preserved in the Q***r Heritage South digital archive. This is a free event and refreshments will be provided.

Participants are encouraged to bring one or more items relating to their own TNBI history they wish to add to the digital archive, and a smartphone or tablet if possible.

What to expect:

• 1:30pm - browse the objects other participants have brought, over a cup of tea
• 1:45pm - listen to a presentation about the Q***r Heritage South digital archive from Rowan Rush-Morgan, Community Archivist
• 2:30pm - have a go at archiving activity: try writing an object label for an object you haven’t seen before - then find out the real story from the person who brought it along!
• 2:45pm - tea break (anyone who doesn’t wish to upload items to the digital archive is welcome to leave at this point)
• 3pm - practical archiving time to add the items brought along to the digital archive, using laptops and scanners provided, or your own smartphone or tablet, with assistance from Q***r Heritage South team members
• 4pm - workshop ends

TODAY - FREE - NO BOOKING NEEDED

On Tuesday 5 November Rory from THT and Kim from SHAC will be bringing PrEP2U to the Clare Project drop-in, from 5-7pm at Dorset Gardens Methodist Church. They will be on hand to provide more information about PrEP and help you get started on it.

PrEP is a drug taken by HIV-negative people before and after s*x that reduces the risk of getting HIV.

PrEP is a discreet and empowering way to protect yourself from HIV.

PrEP may be suitable for you if you:
• are HIV negative
• have a**l, vaginal or frontal s*x in a variety of situations where condoms are not easily or always used
• want to protect yourself from HIV

PrEP is free on the NHS but can only be obtained through specialist s*xual health clinics. Terrence Higgins Trust works in partnership with SHAC, Brighton’s local NHS s*xual health service, to run PrEP2U, which helps bring PrEP to people who would be benefit from using it.

Brighton Dome Corn Exchange

A new 1980’s-inspired musical about pride, protest… and abseiling le****ns.

Twenty-one years after Section 28, the legislation that silenced a generation and galvanised a community, award-winning company Breach presents an exuberant, inspiring and, at times, heart-breaking account of the individuals who lived through and fought against it.

We love the sound of this charity film screening, taking place on Saturday evening at Community Base:

About Every Body:

“Through intimate personal narratives, Every Body (2023) captures the diverse experiences of inters*x people, offering a poignant look into the challenges they face while navigating a world that often misunderstands and marginalizes them. As these individuals share their personal stories and day-to-day battles, viewers gain an intimate understanding of the physical, emotional, and toll that non-consensual surgeries can have on inters*x lives.”

If you are in need of a Covid jab, this is for you!

🌈💉💉💉A free walk in vaccination session at The Ledward Centre for any of the LGBTQ+ communities (18+)💉💉💉🌈

Keeping loved ones safe and protected is everyone’s priority and one of the best ways to protect yourself and others is to be vaccinated. Vaccines give safe and effective protection against severe illness and hospitalisation.

COVID-19 is still around and can cause serious infections in some people. The COVID-19 vaccines are still being offered because viruses change and protection fades over time. It's important to top up your protection if you're eligible.
