Happy Hump Day.
This little order went to its forever home last week and included these gorgeous little jumpers.
Hiya 👋
I took a bit of a social media break, and my Easter break took a bit of an extension. I am still working away in the background, processing your orders, though I really need to sit down and do admin.
Hope you are all keeping well!

♡Bru Bear Romper♡
How adorable is our Bru Bear print made up in a romper. This lovely customers had requested pink lining as it was for a little girl. I loved how it turned out! Do you think we should add this option to the website?
We spent yesterday celebrating our little gingerbread boy, who turns 11 on Tuesday. He had such a fun day with his friends. I'm still trying to get my head around that he will be 11 this week...swear I'm not crying.
Hope you all have a gorgeous Sunday.

Hope you all have a lovely day.

Fantastic giveaway we are included in. Pop across to Hushh Kids to enter!
Is anyone else completely floored by the time change? We just couldn't get up this morning. A bust weekend and time change equals a tired house on a Monday morning. Bed early tonight...
This is part of a beautiful order which went out last week. The remainder is going today as I was waiting on a restock of our demin ribbing for the cuffs of our 'A Trip to Diggerland' jumpers.
It's Friday, my favourite day of the week! Hope you all have a good one!
Lots of love ♡

Thank you all so so much for the love on my little reel yesterday. It's hard to be seen these days on social media. Every like, comment, and share means so much. It helps my post be seen by more customers. I rely a lot on social media to promote my business. This little community can be amazing at times.
Thank you,
Siobhan x
I LOVE receiving pics of your little ones in their G&B.
Please tag me in your pics or send them across via DM. If your account is private, send me a little message as I'll not see you tag.
Thank you so so much.

Our little button-down rompers are the most time consuming item to make, but I adore the finished product when it is all done. It has 8 pieces of fabric, 2 strips of interfacing to secure the buttons, and 5 pairs of popper buttons. These buttons ensure easy changing for little ones.
The perfect baby shower or new baby gift.
Day 15 ~ From idea to product.
I think my favourite product which I see is our baby boxes. I came up with the idea back in 2020 after a few of my friends had babies. Thinking what you would like to receive as a new mummy. I researched popular items sold, new baby items, got customers' opinions, and did a lot of research for the perfect items and presentation of the gift. It honestly makes my heart so happy when an order comes in for a gift box.
Our boxes are magnetic gift boxes and are very sturdy, so they could be used to store little baby items in as a little keep sake.
We have changed the layout of our baby boxes on our new website. I've taken the most popular combination of items from over the last few years and combined them as a box. There are 3 different options on the website for leggings gift boxes and romper gift boxes. Ranging in different prices and items to suit your budget.
Shop them now at, www.gingerbreadandbuttercup.co.uk
Can you see us? The reach on my page is awful at the moment. Give us a little like when you scroll by and let me know you have seen my post.
I couldn't wait to make up this little jumper! Perfect for those cooler days we are having at the minute.
Hope you are all having a peaceful weekend. Happy Sunday.

Day 8 ~ Finishing Touches.
It is really important to me that all the seams in my items are durable (toddler proof), and items can be passed down to siblings, cousins, or little friends. Quality is so very important.
All my seams are overlocked with a 4 thread over locker, ensuring they can withstand any shapes your little ones pull!
All my little items come with their own branding labels. Which include the item size, washing, and care instructions and our G&B logo.
Day 7 ~ Learn.
I am learning all the time with owning my own business.
It started out with learning how to sew, how different machines work, and the best fabrics to use for the items I want to make.
It is all trial and error, and customer feedback is so important to development.
I am creatively minded and not so much business minded. I just want to make and work with my hands. So there has been a lot of learning along the way, though navigating the platforms of social media, Facebook advertising, and website development and not to mention the admin side of running a small business.
Every day is a school day!
Day 4 ~ Start the Day.
My day generally starts with getting my boys up and out for school, and that is sometimes not an easy task! Lol.
I generally try to organise/plan my week out so that I am cutting orders at the beginning of the week and sewing and packing by the end of the week.
Mornings, I find I tend to be more productive. Planning and creating reels/content during that morning shift before the first school run of the day.
Do you ever feel your day runs on little time slots? Mines definitely does!
Day 3 ~ Snippets.
Some snippets of me doing what I love! Processing, cutting, sewing, photographing, and packing all your little orders.
Being a small business owner and a mummy is a juggling act. You never truly switch off. You are always browsing new prints, content ideas, planning, tinkering at the website, or admin work.
Little snippets from my day ♡ Little snippets of what I love ♡
Day 2 ~ All about you.
Hi, it's me...I'm the problem, it's me...lol. Bet you sang that!
For those of you who don't know or are new around here, my name is Siobhan, and I am the face behind Gingerbread and Buttercup. I am a thirty something, mother of 3 boys who loves all things handmade!
Some other things I love, Unicorns, The Colour Green, Rainbows, Sunsets & Sunrises, Paddle Boarding, The Sea, Chocolate, Pretzels, Chicken Curry, Converse, Taylor Swift, Ed Sherran, Harry Potter, Taking Photos, Drinking Gin and Tea (not together lol).
Somethings I don't like, cucumber, moths, butterflies, and have been known to run if there's a wasp near me.
I taught myself to sew, and it is something I take great pride in. A little achievement just for me. I make all your orders from my little sewing room in our house. And I honestly can say that every time my phone pings for an order, it makes my heart so happy. Thank you for continuing to support my business and my little dream.
♡ Brand Origins♡
OK, I am going to attempt this year to take part in . I have tried so many years and ended up not completing it. I am going to give it a good go this year!
Gingerbread and Buttercup, the idea for it began, I'd say in the beginning of 2016. I'd just had Senan out second son and had been browsing handmade items for sale on Instagram and Etsy. I've always had a love for handmade, unique items. You would not find it on the high street, and you know someone made it especially for you.
Mr G&B gifted me a sewing machine, and off I set with YouTube as my teacher, learning how to use my sewing machine and teaching myself to sew. I began with bibs, all shapes and sizes, and my little Senan was only too happy to help me out with testing them.
I then wanted to make more items, especially leggings! I'd enrolled in an evening college class with my friend as I wanted to learn more about sewing, different machines, and fabrics.
From there, I began ordering jersey fabrics, perfect for leggings. I made lots for Senan, and i gifted items to friends and family with the feedback being that I should be selling them.
I was delighted, but you know that little voice in your head that makes you doubt yourself. All the what ifs...
But as Diarmuid said, you will never know until you try!
Shortly after, I invested in an overlocker, which ensures all seams on my clothing are durable and wear well. And 4 new prints. I'd secretly set up an Instagram page but was too scared to launch it.
But on 1st September 2016, I took my little Donnach to begin Primary 1. I was bursting with pride for him, and I thought if he could be so brave and start his new chapter, then I could too! I came home and launched G&B and began taking orders.
And the rest is history! Lol.
Gingerbread and Buttercup is also named after my two eldest boys, Gingerbread, is my little redhead Donnach, and Buttercup is my little blonde Senan. Poor Dáithí hasn't had a say in it yet!
Wow! Well done if you got this far! Thank you for reading all about my little Brand ♡
Dribble Bibs ♡
Fun fact: Bibs were the first item I started to sew. I tried so many different shapes and sizes before I decided on this shape. My little Buttercup Senan was tiny at the time I began to sew. He was more than happy to help mummy out by testing all my bibs!
Backed with soft organic bamboo towelling, which is soft and absorbent against your little ones skin. All our bibs are also fitted with two snap fastening buttons, which can adjust the size of the bib and can grow with your little one.
Anyone desperately watching the skies and wishing the clouds would clear to catch a glimpse of the beautiful Aurora Borealis. We have already taken a drive out to see if we could catch a glimpse before the boys went to bed. Fingers crossed the clouds lift a bit later.
Anyone have any luck seeing it?
We were lucky to see it when we travelled to Sweden in 2015. Got engaged under the beautiful Aurora on Friday the 13th! Don't know if it's good luck or not! Lol.
