7 things I love about Forest Bathing

Have you practiced Forest Bathing? Wow, what a wonderful experience, I love it! There is something in nature that makes us happy.

Forest bathing or Shinrin-Yoku in Japanese began in the Akasawa Forest in Japan, to help the stressed, burned-out businesspeople of Tokyo destress and relax.

But you don’t need to go to Japan to experience forest bathing and all you have to do is get out in nature and be there. Step into the natural world and pause and you will notice how we begin to think outside of ourselves, nature has the power to transform negative emotions into positive feelings.

The 7 things I love about forest bathing
1. Seeing natures amazing patterns in the branches of the trees, the clouds and the sky. The veins in a leaf or petals of a flower, observing the amazing detail.
2. The healing power of smell – the fragrance of the trees and the woodland floor.
3. Listening to the sound of the stream rushing by, and the rustling of leaves.
4. Breathing in the forest – breathing and moving with the trees. Imagining roots spreading out beneath my feet.
5. Touching the trees and the woodland floor, picking up a twig or a leaf.
6. Taking my shoes off – noticing how good it feels to walk barefoot on the earth and receive a dose of the earths powerful healing electrons.
7. Enjoying the feeling of being solid, strong, balanced and centred

I first read about it in Shinrin-Yoku The art and Science of Forest Bathing by Dr Qing Li, this is a great place to start.

We will be experiencing forest bathing amongst other wonderful mindful experiences at our upcoming Retreat Day in Edinburgh and a few places are still available if you would like to join me, choose from either 25th or 26th May.

I hope you are as excited as we are about our upcoming Mindfulness Retreat Day at Dalkeith Country Park in Edinburgh.

This year the day will be filled with wonderful mindful practices to help us to ‘rest and renew’

Cori will be sharing a wonderful sound journey with us again, for those of you who attended last year you I am certain that you will remember the experience, for me the best part is the deep sense of inner peace, harmony, and the overall feeling of well-being. It really enables me to connect to a deeper level within me through the power of sound.

For those of you who haven’t yet experienced a sound journey, this is what you can expect.

What is a Sound Journey?
A sound journey is an immersive experience designed to guide you into a state of deep relaxation or meditation using various sound elements. Cori uses instruments such as singing bowls, crystal bowls, gongs, drums, Tibetan bowls, and her own voice to allow us all to relax, breath and release tension and find balance within and without.

How long does it last?
The session lasts about an hour and during this time, we lie down comfortably, with our eyes closed, and focus on the sounds being played. The sounds are played in a sequence to induce a meditative or trance-like state. The vibrations and frequencies of the sounds are believed to have therapeutic effects on the mind and body, promoting relaxation, stress reduction, and emotional release.

If you haven’ yet booked don’t worry, we still have a few places on either Saturday 25th May & Sunday 26th May.

Mindfulness For Men | Wellbeing Mind 12/03/2024

Let’s face it. The wellbeing space is not made for men.

But to lead a fulfilled life, we have to engage in challenges. To best tackle these challenges, we need to care of ourselves.

Mindfulness for Men is a 6-week wellbeing course tailored specifically to engage the male mind. The course is rooted in mindfulness meditation and action-based philosophies which provide powerful and restorative wellness benefits to supercharge male wellness.

Sessions are delivered live over Zoom every week to a group of men taking action in their lives. There is no requirement to have a camera on or to engage in the sessions. In each 30 minute session, participants can expect delivery of skilful teaching, guided meditations and powerful technique practice by an experienced UK College of Mindfulness Meditation instructor.
