Juno Perinatal Mental Health Support, for Mums and Mums to be. Peer support, one to one befriending and lots of support and advice

Juno Perinatal Mental Health Support was founded in February 2015 by a group of mums in Edinburgh who all have personal experience of perinatal mental health difficulties. We support mums through our weekly peer support groups across the city where we offer advice and information. We also offer one-to-one befriending through our outreach program and allow families to access a subsidised counsellin

Could you be our new volunteer for our in person group in Midlothian? 💜

Are you interested in volunteering opportunities? Can you spare two hours a month? Do you want to help your local community by supporting a worthwhile cause?

💜We need your help to enable our fantastic peer support group to keep running 💜

Could you (or someone you know) become a peer supporter and help mothers struggling with mental health? All training will be provided.

Juno Midlothian currently provide perinatal peer support every week on Tuesday mornings in the Link at Loanhead, during term time. The group is supported by the Growing Families charity.

Perinatal mental Illness affects 10-20% of pregnant women and mums with babies under 1.

We need some willing volunteers to join our fabulous friendly peer supporters to facilitate the group. This involves chatting with, supporting and signposting mums who are struggling with emotional difficulties during pregnancy or following the birth of their baby. There is no expectation to facilitate every week.

The venue provide an appropriate room, baby toys and tea/coffee. All that is required is some relevant personal experience (eg pre or post natal depression/anxiety/birth trauma).

Please PM us if you think you can help or want to find out more.
Many thanks xx
Please share 😊

We are looking for mums who have recovered sufficiently that they feel able to support other mums, who can commit 2-4hrs per month and who have bundles of empathy.

If you fit this criteria, please email [email protected]

Many thanks! 💜☀️

** TEMPORARY CHANGE TO ZOOM GROUP DATES **

During Sept, Oct, Nov and Dec we are needing to reduce the frequency of the online meeting to fortnightly, instead of weekly. This is because we are currently short on facilitator volunteers and are in the process of training up new ones. We have a wonderful new batch of volunteers in the pipeline and when they’re up and running we’ll be able to return to weekly meetings.

We are really sorry not to be able to offer our usual service for the next few months, but as Juno is entirely based on the kindness of unpaid volunteers our resources are not limitless.

If you have any questions at all get in touch with us at [email protected] and we’d be delighted to help.

31/07/2023

Huge apologies if you tried to log in to our online group tonight. Our host facilitator had an A&E emergency and was unable to facilitate the group today at very short notice. Thankfully everything is ok so we will be back to normal for next group.

Our volunteers are on holiday next week (7th August), but group is back on Monday 14th August

So proud of our INCREDIBLE volunteer Laura, who talked about her healing journey in yesterday’s Daily Record.
She is an inspiration - living evidence that it IS possible to recover from perinatal anxiety, to thrive, to go on to help others, and to be whoever you want to be.
Her next show is on 1st October at the Voodoo Rooms.
Meanwhile her fabulous burlesque colleague Red Hot Kitty is very generously raising funds for Juno in her next show. Please come along and show your support!

Rosey the founder of has created an amazing supportive community and at Juno we are very proud to be part of the 💜

What is ?

It is an amazing, supportive peer support community run via Twitter. We chat every week about different subjects in relation to parenting and mental health.

We've been running for 6.5 years and have connected thousands of mums, dad's, families, health care professionals and voluntary sector workers.

Many find comfort in simply observing the weekly chats by having that reassurance that they are not alone and that there is hope.

Whilst it is run on a public platform you will be supported and heard through our community. Many also choose to have private or anonymous accounts to join in or observe and that is more than OK.

Come and join the incredible 💜 🌈

You are not alone and you matter.
