Clancy has spent more than 2 decades working with individuals experiencing crisis or trauma and having founded her company, Angels Without Wings; Clancy delivers her unique specialism in informal and external environments to suit the needs of the individual. Irrespective of age, Clancy’s client-centred approach to therapy allows them to examine various aspects of their life experiences in a safe a
nd non-threatening environment. This way of working provides her with a privileged and essential opportunity of getting to know each individual personally, even when working in a group situation. Clancy’s influences are embedded in the practices of the renowned theatre practitioner, Antonine Artaud, who believed that ‘Life mirrored theatre, and theatre mirrored life’. It is for this reason that she use’s creative expressive techniques to provide individuals with an opportunity to reach their full potential. As a dramatherapist, Clancy acts as an artist and a clinician in order to draw on her training in theatre/drama and therapy to create methods to engage clients in effecting psychological, emotional and social changes. The therapy gives equal validity to body and mind within the dramatic context; stories, myths, playtexts, puppetry, masks and improvisation are examples of the range of artistic interventions Clancy employs. Through her own life experiences and her unyielding commitment to drama therapy, Clancy has become a highly skilled and conscientious practitioner. Focused on guiding individuals to have a different relationship with their own life experiences, Clancy is able to assist them in making more conscious decisions with regards to changes that need to be made to fulfil their personal goals and ambitions. It is Clancy’s mission to provide each individual with an opportunity to be heard, helped and healed by enabling them to discover and be their true selves.
