Therapeutic care solutions for your loved ones
I got a message this morning from Emma asking about the Lidl waste not veg boxes. This is a pic of the last one I got. I haven't had one for a while as you tend to need to go in quite early to nab one in my store. They are usually behind the tills and cost £1.50 xx Lorna xx
When thinking about hiring a carer to live -in or out , it’s a good idea to ask yourself what are the purpose and values of the carer and how you can benefit from this
Rather than
Merely covering basic needs as cheaply and easily as possible
Good carers/P A s /companions are coming from a place of high quality training and considerable experience
It’s not a one way street to putting someone in place as cheaply as you can
It’s vocational
An act of service
Someone’s career
If you want harmony and efficiency it’s best to put the work in and pick quality over best financial deal.
At the moment we have a situation where workers are available in droves; cheaply and without good training and that is not okay
Or safe

It has become clear to me that aging itself does not bring wisdom. It often brings regression to childishness, dependency, and bitterness over lost opportunities. Only those who are still intellectually, emotionally, spiritually growing inherit the richness of aging. ~James Hollis

“The great thing about getting older is that you don't lose all the other ages you've been.
I am still every age that I have been.
Because I was once a child, I am always a child. Because I was once a searching adolescent, given to moods and ecstasies, these are still part of me, and always will be . . .
This does not mean that I ought to be trapped or enclosed in any of these ages . . . the delayed adolescent, the childish adult, but that they are in me to be drawn on; to forget is a form of su***de . . .
Far too many people misunderstand what *putting away childish things* means, and think that forgetting what it is like to think and feel and touch and smell and taste and see and hear like a three-year-old or a thirteen-year-old or a twenty-three-year-old means being grownup. When I'm with these people I, like the kids, feel that if this is what it means to be a grown-up, then I don't ever want to be one. Instead of which, if I can retain a child's awareness and joy, and *be* fifty-one, then I will really learn what it means to be grownup.”

My brother is a low functioning downsie. He used to love to hold babies but it's rare someone let's him now. My wife and I let him hold our baby today and here is his look when we gave her to him and then the way he held her without movement for 5 minutes. I almost cried.

“The Little Boy and the Old Man
Said the little boy, "Sometimes I drop my spoon."
Said the old man, "I do that too."
The little boy whispered, "I wet my pants."
I do that too," laughed the little old man.
Said the little boy, "I often cry."
The old man nodded, "So do I."
But worst of all," said the boy, "it seems
Grown-ups don't pay attention to me."
And he felt the warmth of a wrinkled old hand.
I know what you mean," said the little old man.”

I Am Not Old
I am not old…she said
I am rare.
I am the standing ovation
At the end of the play.
I am the retrospective
Of my life as art
I am the hours
Connected like dots
Into good sense
I am the fullness
Of existing.
You think I am waiting to die…
But I am waiting to be found
I am a treasure.
I am a map.
And these wrinkles are
Imprints of my journey
Ask me anything.

“Growing, ripening, aging, dying — the passing of time is predestined, inevitable.
“There is only one solution if old age is not to be an absurd parody of our former life, and that is to go on pursuing ends that give our existence a meaning — devotion to individuals, to groups or to causes, social, political, intellectual or creative work… In old age we should wish still to have passions strong enough to prevent us turning in on ourselves. One’s life has value so long as one attributes value to the life of others, by means of love, friendship, indignation, compassion.”—Simone de Beauvoir in “The Coming of Age.”

This week is National Carers Week. This image shows the loving care that Rob Burrow's wife gives him every day, carrying him in her arms to his bed. Rob has motor neurone disease and his condition is so severe he has now lost all ability to talk and can't move anything except his eyes. But Lindsey sees it simply and with love: “While I’m physically able, I will continue to do that for Rob, and I know he’d do the same for me.” ❤ Thank you to all of the carers out there, you are doing a fantastic job 💓 Read the full story: https://bit.ly/3X3Ek8j
