So , as promised, here is a little about me and what ended up bringing my son and I to the beautiful place that is Parga.
About ten years ago I found myself living on the beautiful Greek Island of Kefalonia. What was supposed to be a summer holiday turned into two years of wonderful experiences. I fell in love with the people, the nature and the overall way of life. Skip to four years later, after travelling Australia and living in Thailand for just over a year I found myself back in the UK , heavily pregnant with my son, dreaming of a future abroad for us both.
Since he was born I found myself undertaking many ventures, from setting up my own business making homemade paints and play doughs for babies, to eventually training as a secondary art teacher, of which has been my career for the last three years.
Then we came to Parga.
A beautiful family holiday with my Mother and Sister in August sparked the start of a unstoppable life change. Indi fell in love with the freedom, peace and natural beauty of Greece, the sea and ‘beautiful views’ as he so eloquently put it, and I fell in love all over again, not just with Greece but with life.
A seed was planted, I began to look into what work I could do here for the summer seasons and realised that this could actually be a reality for my son and I. There is still some way to go but I am a firm believer in hard work and passion paying off, you only live once so I am intending on making it a good one. So that is the short story of what lead us here, I am now teaching online English whilst planning and arranging the finer details for the summer seasons work and enjoying seeing my son full of life and making memories.
I moved here not only for me, but to give my son the gift of freedom, of growing up by the sea, learning to fish and understanding and respecting nature. Learning where fruit and vegetables come from and how to grow them and nourish your body, and most importantly to not be scared by life, but to chase your dreams and only be restrained by the limitations you put on yourself. I want my son to learn from how he sees me live rather than what I say, to see the world as a place of adventure and possibility and to not be run by fear, but to live fearlessly and independently with the knowledge that hard work and vision does and will pay off, maybe not now or next month or maybe even next year but it will.
I have decided to also regularly write posts on here about our adventures and the development of the business to keep you all updated on the progression of things here,
Next post - the many levels of adjustment when relocating.
