We're thrilled to announce that we have launched a new organisation called Elevate Community Productions CIC as a legacy of the Heston West Big Local. This organisation is dedicated to amplifying the voices of the local community and creating employment opportunities on our upcoming projects.

Our new project, Elevate Voices, is launching June 8th at Cranford Community College (time TBC), and I’d love for you all to be a part of it!

Elevate Voices is a unique intercultural initiative, aimed at bringing the community together through storytelling, expressive arts (drama, dance, music) and media production (film, TV, photography). This project offers a wonderful opportunity to share your stories, build confidence and intercultural competencies, and connect with others in our community.

Here are some highlights of what to expect:

- Storytelling Circles: Weekly sessions where you can share your experiences and connect with others led by a professional actor.
- Elevate Studios: state of the art production facilities utilising emerging technologies to transform your stories into engaging audiovisual media and broadcast them on our upcoming streaming platform (coming soon!)
- London Diversity Festival: A community event to celebrate everyone in the community and share the creative works we produce together.

Best of all, all sessions and workshops are completely FREE to attend!

Whether you’re passionate about storytelling, looking to develop new skills, make new friends or just want to be part of a creative and supportive community, Elevate Voices has something for everyone.

Our first round of sessions are aimed at ALL AGES above 16. (We will be running sessions for those under 16 later in the year).

We are saddened to hear of the passing of Steve Curran MBE. He was a great leader London Borough of Hounslow who listened, cared, and worked incredibly hard to bring about positive change to our borough. He will be greatly missed. You're invited to join us at the upcoming Heston and Cranford Area Forum, scheduled to take place on Thursday 21st March, from 6.30 to 9.30pm, at Heston Community Centre, TW5 0EE.

The Heston and Cranford Area Forum serves as a vital platform for residents to engage with the Council, receive support and advice on a wide range of topics, and voice concerns relevant to the area where they live. The event will commence with an informal marketplace and networking session from 6.30 to 7.30pm, providing an excellent opportunity for participants to connect with one another, find out about the fantastic work of local community and voluntary sector groups, and speak directly to Council officers about individual issues and concerns. Following this, from 7.30 to 9.30pm, there will be a formal meeting where residents can pose questions to officers and councillors on matters affecting the local area.

Free food and drink will be provided, as well as arts and crafts activities for children. Attendees can also enjoy a dance performance from The Shakti Divas Bhangra group!

It was great to see young people from our My London: Enabling Youth Social Action programme in Hillingdon join forces with C-Change West London and Lewisham Youth Theatre at the Co-Analysis Data Session this morning at Wallacespace in Farringdon. Young people learnt about analysing qualitative and quantitative research and how this helps when it comes to community funding and making change in our communities. However, it wasn't all hard work, we enjoyed good conversations, tasty pizzas and lots of free snacks! Big thanks to our friends at Renaisi for organising the workshop 😀

This Thursday 29th February at the Brabazon Community Centre from 9 to 12pm, Raingardens are to be installed on Brabazon Road, Burns Way and Shelley Crescent.

During the session they will be promoting the planned instalment of several rain gardens (also known as Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems or SuDS for short) in the area. The event will be an opportunity for local residents to find out more about what SuDS are and their benefits, as well as to take part in a survey to vote on preferred planting options for the SuDS.

Great turn out today at our Valentine themed Community Clean Up Day, together we collected around 20 bags of rubbish by Church Road, Redwood Estate and Cranford Lane with support from Heston Action Group, Let's Go Outside & Learn, C-Change West London and our MP Seema Malhotra. It's disappointing and sad to see the fly-tipping in the area, especially by Church Road, we need to keep going and hopefully change will happen soon, cleaner and greener streets, safer community. We look forward to sharing our highlight film soon, big thanks to all our wonderful volunteers involved today and partners, fantastic effort and community spirit! 😃

Really good opportunity for those interested in nature and science - our partners Let's Go Outside & Learn (LGOAL) will be delivering an amazing project with the Zoological Society of London (ZSL) called Citizens Science Workshop - Exploring the Crane Corridor in Cranford. The workshops are designed to explore what citizen science is, how to get involved and how to collect and share the data that you collect. ZSL scientists will be there to help as well as LGOAL staff.
