There's often a concern that when you follow Metabolic Balance you're going to be hungry.

Apples feature heavily in Metabolic Balance for their numerous health benefits (more on that another time!) But adding them to breakfast is a great way to use them to start your day right. In Metabolic Balance meals you only have one form of protein at a time which is why in this recipe you don’t use any milk or yoghurt – you’ve got the seeds as your protein and your plan will tell you how big your serving size should be!
You’ll Need:
1 portion mixed seeds (pumpkin, pine nuts, sunflower seeds) depending on seeds in your plan
1 apple (grated coarsely)
1 pinch salt
1 tbsp cinnamon
What to do:
1. Soak the seeds in water overnight
2. Drain the water in the morning and puree the seed mixture
3. Grate the apple an mix the shavings into the seeds
4. Season with cinnamon and salt and enjoy.

Stuffed Leek Kebabs
Here’s a fun way to use leeks in your Metabolic Balance programme.
You’ll need:
- 1 portion veggies – leeks, 1 tbsp chopped onions
- 1 garlic clove
- 1 portion ground poultry
- ½ tsp ground ginger
- Salt
- Freshly ground pepper & cayenne pepper
- Lemongrass powder
- Cinnamon
What to do:
1. Trim the leeks and cut them open lengthwise and rinse
2. Cut into 2 x 7” long pieces
3. Blanch in boiling water for around 4 mins, remove and pat dry
4. Peel and finely chop garlic
5. Mix garlic and onions into your ground poultry
6. Season with ginger, salt, pepper, cayenne pepper, lemongrass, and cinnamon and knead together
7. Lay the leeks out flat on a piece of aluminium foil
8. Press the ground poultry mix onto the leeks
9. Roll them up using the foil, then remove the foil
10. Cut the roll into 1” thick pieces and thread them onto a skewer
11. Fry in a hot, non-stick skillet on all sides for about 5 mins
12. Serve with a light salad or more vegetables from your list
