Hunza, Passu and northern pakistan

We spent two nights in Hunza and the mountains take your breath away. We had 2 nights in treehouses in the mountains. Scouts is all anothe doing all the experiences that our young people don’t normally have the opportunity to do so.

Waking up and seeing the Rakaposhi mountain right there standing at 6000+ m is the most surreal thing,
Hunza is beautiful.

Day Mountain…
I think we have all lost track of what day it is. It’s another day on the road, another mountain range. I think it’s one of those surreal trips where we will look back in the future and remember all the crazy things we did.
Pakistan is more beautiful then the pictures show and you cannot comprehend what you are seeing until you are literally in the feet of the tallest mountains in the world. We remember being in awe of Ben Nevis at 2000m and even the smallest is here is 5000 plus.

We stayed at the stunning Gilgit Serena. It is a scouts trip but it is supposed to be a trip of a lifetime and it’s all about balance. or maybe we are just not the typical scouts but we like to be different.

The road to Hunza was even more stunning. The previous mountains were tiny in comparison. We stopped at the rokaposhi view point and it was so surreal. Your entire vantage point is this massive mountain. There was a sky cycle ride… we are zipling later on the trip so we thought we would give this a whirl too.

The pictures are just awesome 💚

We continued on to Karimabad where we are spending the next two nights in treehouses 😍

Ps. we had packed for a rainy and cold north. It’s sunny and BOILING!

Day number 🤷🏻‍♀️ (think it’s 6 😅)
With plans changing from what we had originally expected we had a few long days of travel across the beautiful landscapes of Pakistan. You don’t realise how massive the country is and no pictures will ever do it justice.
Whilst Switzerland is on most scouts bucket list, Pakistan has all that and more and is truly one of the most overlooked countries in the world. Scouts is all about life changing adventure and for us that’ll always be taking a path that others wouldn’t dare travel 💚

We travelled from Naran to Gilgit. Crossing rolling hills, to dusty mountains and everything in between. Crossing waterfalls, standing at 4000m and higher.., transcending narrow lanes and more. The scenery of pakistan is beyond anything you will expect.

The smiles on the explorers are plentiful 💚

Day 2 : .
It’s Friday so there’s no better place to pray Jummah than the stunning in Islamabad.
At one time the largest mosque in the world, it still retains all the facets that make it one of the most stunning mosques in the world.

The weather was hot, hot, hot today but we were all matching in our traditional outfits so were a little cooler then our hoodies!

Follow along on our stories / tiktok for all the things we get up to Day 2 : .

2023 may have been jamboree year for many and whilst our hearts had originally been on the world scout jamboree, the universe had other plans!

When we created 1V scouts 10 years ago… the dream was to open doors for young people who would otherwise never get these opportunities. Levelling the playing field and truly providing life changing adventure for all 💚

So meet out 1V contingent heading off to Pakistan for two weeks of adventure, fun, friendship and being totally off the beaten path.

Follow along on our stories… as we travel to one of the more off beaten path scouts internationals… our motto was always go big or go home ☺️

Fill your life with experiences, not things. Have stories to tell, not stuff to show.

Our passion is to provide as many different opportunities to our young people as possible. Providing them with life changing opportunities and experiences.

Through our explorers were invited to the Iftar at the . The morning started with a visit to the Houses of Parliament and a chat with our MP Kate Hollern, MP for Blackburn who spent time with the girls and it’s always great to have young people have such close contact with their local government representative. In the evening they attended the interfaith Iftar where the girls had the opportunity to meet and network with young people from across the country about how faith can help with climate change.

Female empowerment isn’t for one event, once a year it’s to give the opportunities to young people who would otherwise never get these chances!

Camp 1 of our 10 camp challenge ✅

We pride ourselves on delivering the best opportunities for our young people. Our passion is to go the extra mile to provide truly life changing adventure for all young people and levelling the playing field!

We spent 4 nights and 5 days at the Kingswood Dearne Valley site completing the skills for life programme. It was incredible to offer this to our young people on a fully funded basis and the activities were amazing. We have done the leap of faith and gladiator challenge before but in the dark it hits differently. Making friendships, having fun and creating memories to last a lifetime are the aims we had. All done.

Lots of shattered but smiling young people and truly exhausted adult volunteers = great camp!

Next year marks the 10th year anniversary of the 1V scouts! So in the build up we are planning 10 camps over the next 12 months… from adventures near to adventures far… each will be a little bit different!
From squirrels through to explorers all of our sections will be getting involved!
Help us on the challenge by letting us know what has been your favourite camp!

When you find £1.50 return tickets to Manchester, you have to take the opportunity and deliver a good day out!

We sent our One Voice Scouts to with the task of completing a monopoly run. They had different locations listed which they needed to find - once they had arrived at the different locations, they could then claim it as their own considering that they were the first Scouts to get there - and any other groups arriving after the first set of Scouts then owe ‘rent’ to the owners. The further out properties were worth more but so was the chance of another team getting additional rent.
The scouts also had many challenges to complete along side finding the locations, such as taking photos with !!
Our groups spent majority of their saturday completing this monopoly run and had an amazing time exploring the different places had to offer.

Well done to our victorious Red Team!

We had our first Explorers camp over half term and it was jam packed weekend of fun, fabulous activities, even better food and friendship

It was fun to join Equalinks on their first ever camp and meet up with nearly 100 other explorers and adults from across the country.

He’s a quick throwback to camp 🙂

Meet the One Voice Scouts family.

Everyone has a covid story and ours was that we didn’t meet from@ 29/2/20-11/21. But despite not meeting for 18 months we returned to scouts last November stronger then ever.
Our passion is to provide truly life changing adventure to our young people so on our return we reduced the number of younger members to ensure we can deliver a quality programme for young people the whole time they are in scouts!
Our last pic is our explorers who started it all, all those years ago!

Watch this space as we share some of our exciting plans for the next 18 months.

There’s how others do scouts and then there is the One Voice Scouts! 💪🏽

Our group photos will be out soon but we often are asked which sections we have and the ages.
So this is our scouting family 💕💚
- Squirrels : aged 4-5
- Beavers : aged 6-8
- Cubs : aged 8-10.5
- Scouts : aged 10.5-14
- Explorers : aged 14-18.

We may not be the biggest group in the country in terms of numbers but we strive to provide a truly wholesome, adventurous and fun programme to all of our young people!
Scouts 💪🏽

Our passion is to raise young people who are proud of who they are and never shy away from their identity.

One of our highlights from the Cornwall trip was praying Magrib prayers on the beach. The sun was setting, we even had a family ask to join us in prayers.

Here’s to celebrating being proud of who you are!

15/09/2022

And we are go… and here we come! When we set up the group our aim and intention was to provide truly life changing adventure to as many young people as possible especially those who would otherwise miss out on these opportunities! After the last world scout jamboree we decided and made the intention that the next wsj we would take our young people 💪🏽

In true Scouts tradition, things are only official once you have a badge :) our Korea badge was designed by one of our network member 👌

So summer 2023, the 1V Scouts will be going to Korea and do a trip in our own unique way.

Any who want to meet up before wsj we would love to meet!

Lesssgo!

Day 2 of our Cornwall Adventure. This was the furthest in the U.K. most of our group had travelled so to ensure they enjoyed as many sights, sounds and tastes of Cornwall we decided to take a day and take in all the touristy sites.
📍 Kynance Cove was our first stop. We arrived before all the crowds and it lived up to the hype and more
📍 Minack Theatre, photos do not do the site justice. Steeped on the edge of the cliff, this is truly one of the most breathtaking theatres you will visit
📍Porthcurno Beach, at the foot of Minack theatre is the turquoise waters at Porthcurno beach. Despite it being busy and roasting, the vitamin Sea was a perfect way to cool down
📍Lands End - how many scouts can you fit before the infamous lands end sign… 28 apparently :)

We returned to our accommodation exhausted but with huge smiles on our faces! And that wasn’t the end of the adventure, our accommodation is located in truly stunning surroundings and was the best place to watch the sunset and what’s a scout camp without a fire!

Day 2…

There’s the way some groups do camps and there’s the way 1V do camps 😅

7pm start and we left to make our way to several different locations in Cornwall. None of our young people had been to Cornwall before so our aim is to fill their lives with opportunities and experiences that they would never otherwise access.

📍Stop 1 : Kynance Cove. Lived up to all its hype and was definitely one of the best beaches we have seen. We enjoyed a brunch stop here before heading to…
📍Stop 2 : Minack Theatre. We didn’t watch the show but as an architectural feat and with the glorious weather it was a highlight and the scouts were so impressed.
📍Stop 3 : Porthcurno Beach. Truly breathtaking waters and beach and made us all feel like we’d left the U.K. shores and we’re holidaying abroad
📍Stop 4 : Lands End : we are all about the cheese and anytime you see the edge of the country you see the sign so we couldn’t resist having a group photo there! 28 1V members including our 1V baby 😂
Stop 5 : Par, back to the accommodation to finish off a perfect day with games , BBQ and roasting marshmallows

18 hours on the go and the scouts were still full of beans.

There’s how other scout groups do trips and there is how 1V Scouts do camps 🤩

This was Day 1 of our Cornwall 22 adventure!
20 young people set off on an adventure and it was spectacular. The sun was shining but more so they got to experience so many opportunities that only scouting brings them.

Day 1 we visited Bath and it’s Abbey, drove to Newquay to try coasteering. First time any of the young people had swam in the Atlantic Ocean. We then headed to Newquay beach before making our way to our accommodation.

Exhausted but all full of smiles 💚💕

How do you break down barriers? By allowing young people from underrepresented communities have the opportunity to try all the experiences that readily available to them.
Fabulous day on Lake coniston where our scouts and explorers got to try SUPs, kayaking, canoeing, sailing and dragon boats. Gorgeous weather and amazing activities. Best 5 hours spent on water in a long time!
A huge thank you to and volunteers who made this incredible opportunity available 😍

Our annual 1V Iftar was back. Lots of families, togetherness, a real sense of community and most importantly lots of smiling faces 😍
It’s been a tough few years but it’s to be getting back to normal 🎉

27/03/2022

As a group we have lots of fabulous mums who are a big reason our group is as successful as it is! From adult volunteers to super supportive parents. A big thank you to all the mums and all they do 💚

Our scouts were challenged to make a afternoon tea for their mums. They had £10 per troop and did well on making a lovely tea for their mums 💚

It’s British Science Week and Saturday our young leaders planned and delivered sessions for all our sections. From circuits to rockets, catapults to elephant toothpaste and everything in between there was lots to excite our young people about stem and all things science!

Paper Clip challenge. - 16 explorers, 8 paper clips and the Trafford centre!

Scouts is a platform which gives you endless opportunities to grow and gain new skills. Yesterday we did the paper clip challenge. So easy.. split the unit into pairs and each had a paper clip. They had a timelimit for 1.5 hours to see how much they could trade up in the time.

Amazing way to support personal development from communication, pitching and negotiation skills to growing confidence and tactical planning.

There was two winning team, ones with the most valued trade up (winning teams was one £100) and secondly those who did the most trades.

Our explorers absolutely loved it abd met so many former scouts on their journeys who would go out of their way to support their effort.

There’s a Scouts camp and then there’s a One Voice Scout Camp. 3 years ago we were selected as a pilot for early years provision. To mark the occasion and to ensure our squirrels first ever camp experience was super special we went all out 😍😍

Here’s our first ever squirrels 🐿 day camp 🎉

We are 8 🎉🎂

Here’s a few recap memories of our journey.
We started in 2014 with a dream to make a difference. 16 small beavers.
1 year later we launched our cubs
3 years later we had over 60 young people

Today we are 8 and we have over 96 young people, all the sections and a lifetime of memories.

Here’s to the next 8 💪🏽
