The final workshop of the year! so everyone can choose what they want to do..monoprinting proved to be the most popular choice.So many different results to be had! A really fun morning with mince pies and Xmas biscuits. Looking forward to 2024-the next workshop is the 9th January!

It has been a while and I’m just so glad to get back to it!
A peek at two new large portraits in pastel of sisters Ester and Fiona completed today,just 24 hours before the member’s deadline for the Pastel Society’s 125th exhibition in 2024,from January 24th, at the Mall Galleries in The Mall,London.
I will be exhibiting 4 pieces all together..Exciting!
Monoprinting today,drawing directly from still life. Great results as usual with some interesting experiments with texture or applying colour to a second print..the plates with the negative images from the first print were equally good!
The exhibition opens today! It’s in a beautiful gallery in the particularly cool little town of Bungay in Suffolk..

For the past six years I have been developing a new part of my practice with ceramic sculpture,(on Instagram ).and creatures!
It combines my love of working with clay and storytelling.
I am thrilled to announce that this year’s collection “Birds of Wisdom” is going to be exhibited in the lovely Suffolk town of Bungay,from the 1st November 2023 for the whole month, alongside many beautiful artworks throughout this truly lovely gallery. Absolutely worth a visit.

Today’s workshop combined drawing with collage..it’s very popular with my super creative workshoppers! Wonderful results as ever.
Today’s workshop was exploring “Cross Contour Drawing” and “Double Line Scribble” Exciting results as usual! Since it was a small class today I joined in and also had a play around with my favourite willow charcoal-see the last two images.
“Exploring Drawing through Portraiture” my workshop yesterday on behalf of the .uk The afternoon exercises were “Stage by Stage-Starting in the dark” picking out the light with an eraser on charcoal covered paper,then for a final piece,combining ink and twig drawing with colour pastels. #

It was a super productive day with my two lovely models and .reeks.98 and a record 10 attendees who really worked hard.
I am astounded at the beautiful work they produced and I’m very happy to have enabled that. Here’s just a few examples of the mornings exercises-First of all warming up with several timed sketches-2 minutes down to 10 seconds.Then Continuous line-eye on the model not on the paper-followed by Double line Scribble using two pencils taped together.

A fantastic start to the Autumn season exploring drawing with “Unlikely Tools”-using everything from teasel heads to pot scourers,feathers to fernheads..dipped in black ink or terracotta paint,sprayed,splashed scratched or swept lightly..Then touches of colour or tone with pastels. Fabulous results with lot’s of energy and positivity shining through!

Honouring my dear friend Maria Vajente who would have turned 69 today. In 2018 I made this portrait of her with much love but sadly she never got to see it..I still consider it to be one of my best works. Ciao Moltona ❤️

Today’s workshop “Make your own still life” went so well..everyone enjoyed making their own flowers and even pots out of paper to create really interesting still life’s to draw. We’ll be doing this again!
On the ceramic sculpture side of my practice-the Summer Collection 2023 is on its way..Awaiting finishing and firing.
All in black and white..the storytelling continues.
Meanwhile..back in my studio,the still life story continues..for now.
