Mother’s Day, or as it should be called, “mums are awesome and we should be celebrated every day but we’re too busy for that so one day will have to do” is approaching quickly.
I’m not sure about you but when Mother’s Day comes around, I don’t just celebrate my own mother but the other significant mothers in my life: sisters, friends, aunts and cousins. Village mentality isn’t really a thing anymore but family and friends who are family networks are and after the last few weeks that we’ve had with one of our twins being in a bad way, this means more to us than ever now.
Anyway, we’ve had some more “Mother is Love” enamel pin badges made just in time and I’m not sure if I’ve voiced it before but celebrating the mothers in our circles and networks are the reason that I made them in the first place. So if you’re thinking of your fellow awesome mums on Mother’s Day, make sure to drop them a message that you love them. Ello friends! We’re glad to welcome some new followers over the past month so thought I’d check in with you all and give an update of latest goings on.

👋 For those new here, my name is Rufina although I tend to go by Fin, Fina or Mama Panda.

We came back from a family trip to the Philippines a couple weeks back (my mother is from the Philippines and dad is English and Polish) and holiday blues has totally kicked in although I’m totally reenergised and have a new space of thinking.

I started back in 2016 when our benji was a little babe and I had the 3 children…

We have since had twins who are now 13months old - our Shayne and Sienna have graduated and Benji, Milo & Miguel have become our three little pandas 🐼 (5 little pandas doesn’t quite have the same ring to it)

I love painting and find myself drawn to anything creative. This past year whilst on maternity leave, I’ve found making “manifesting mood boards”/collages one of my favourite creative outlets. It also feels like a form of therapy for me where I can find my flow whilst carefully cutting out meaningful pictures and words that speak out to me and calmly arrange them onto a blank sheet.

I also find decluttering and reorganising the home therapeutic and really satisfying.

After a long maternity leave with TLP, I’m happy to be back, reintroducing our thoughtfully made children’s clothing with our playful panda designs.

I’m working on bringing back our popular “self-care and me time” gift packages but in the meantime celebrating the launch of our NEW pin badges in collaboration with .

This year we celebrated 7 years of Three Little Pandas as a brand, and our first year of having 3 in store stockists. (I guess three really is the magic number!)

Hey panda friends! It’s been a week since we arrived back from our home country of the Philippines 🇵🇭 and twin pandas have been on the go, go, go!

Prior to our amaaaaazing trip, we stopped by and did a mini shoot with them in our TLP denim jackets and Josiah Amari harem trousers.

This was a good test run for flight apparel! ✈️

We’ve been spending a lot more time in Camden lately with the twin pandas getting comfortable with their childminder.

Papa and I have enjoyed exploring the area, going for coffee dates and topping up on the food shop because let’s be real central London prices are frigging ridiculous.

On our adventures we were SUPER happy to stumble across what is now our favourite Filipino food convenience store just off the main road by Mornington Crescent on Plender street.

The owners and staff there are super friendly and welcoming and always bring the positive vibes we miss from home 🇵🇭🥰 not forgetting to mention their impressive selection of snacks and food items.

So you see, it gives us great joy to now have our little smiling panda pins greeting you at their desk!

9 months into twin parenthood and papa panda and I are still learning!

If you’re familiar with our “set up” and I have 7 children between us with and being our Three Littlest Pandas 🐼 🐼🐼

You’d think having done this how many times before that we’d be accustomed to the change of routine and life that little ones bring but Milo and Miguel have been keeping us on our toes, especially now as they’ve learnt to roll over, sit up, crawl (in different directions!) and pull themself up to stand!! 🤯😮‍💨

Month 8 wasn’t kind to them with both getting chickenpox and the weeks after recovering from 48 hr bugs and teething. But month 9 I have to say has been a fun one, enjoying watching them grow and their personalities showing through much more too 🥹😅🥰.

I’ve been itching to get creative again and with Summer coming I’ve decided to make these 2 one of our popular panda denim jackets each as well as some new bits to potentially stock - stay tuned for pics!

WHO ARE YOU AFTER PREGNANCY?

I’ve been collecting magazines with the intention of creating a new mood board for some time but only today decided to make it my priority to finally get it done whilst the twin pandas napped.

It didn’t take long and for that 15mins of flicking through pages, cutting and sticking I zoned out and felt a sense of calm. It was peaceful, I felt peaceful.

I would call this a post but truly we should practice self-care everyday.

I read somewhere recently that every time a mother gives birth to a baby they change as a person. Often they lose themselves momentarily trying to adapt to a new dynamic as well as the expectations and responsibilities motherhood brings.

I need to follow my own advice and hold myself more accountable for practicing selfcare and doing more things for me as I’ve noticed I’ve neglected myself a lot since the birth of the twin pandas.

It’s not been easy, I can’t see it getting easier. But if I can make it more enjoyable by loving myself and giving myself the time and care I give to others then things can only get better.

My challenge for you is to take 15mins and make a mood board of your own this week. All you need is a couple of magazines or newspapers, a piece of paper, scissors and a glue stick - grab the images and words that stick out to you most and apply them to your board.

Hi friends! As you can see Mama Panda has had her hands full looking after the 2 littlest members of the panda family.

I was hoping to introduce some new self care, me time essentials and gift packages in time for Christmas but looking after these 2 on top of navigating family life and housework has proven more challenging than I had initially anticipated 😵‍💫🤪.

I’m at that stage of feeling a bit wonky, exhausted, lost, lonely, frustrated, happy and so in love - all at the same time - which can be very confusing sometimes… and so I think a little longer pause from the business is a wise move.

When I’m feeling my better and stronger self I’ll be back in the TLP grid with new bits for you all to enjoy… and until then I will be testing out a bunch of self care products in a bid to take my own advice 🫠😅.

💛🐼 ONE WHOLE MONTH of Milo and Miguel 🐼💛

It took 36 weeks and 4 days to grow these babies - though painful and full of complications for the most part (still in recovery one month after their birth) I poured and continue to pour so much love into them and watching them grow makes it all feel completely, totally, utterly worth it!

I started typing this post whilst tandem breastfeeding 🥴🤣 (it still feels so surreal feeding 2 at the same time and I’m not sure how long this breastfeeding journey will last so I’ll embrace each sitting 🥹) and it reminded me of how strong, resilient and determined women can be.

It’s been a demanding month yet as I enter this next phase of motherhood I also welcome finding my own rhythm to this new dynamic of twin mama life 💛.

I love you my little precious blessings. Thank you for being good for mama and reminding me how special it is to be yours, your big brothers and sister’s mother 🥰.

And thank you to everyone for your kind words of wisdom, surprise care packages and gifts, well wishes and checking in on me and the family through this maternity leave - I appreciate every single one of you!

Five Little Pandas???

The dilemma we had when we found out that we were expecting twins outside of where we’re going to put them was what would happen to the TLP name?

Upon consulting our two slightly older pandas, they assured us that we should keep the name the same as they are “not so little” pandas anymore.

And like life, the cycle continues. Born on 27/7/22, we would like to introduce you to Milo and Miguel, our two new little pandas.

And so our littlest of the Three Little Pandas has graduated to the eldest of the Three Little Pandas.

Whilst we take a break from business to grow these babies a bit, would you like to see more of the twins, the OG three and their antics?

A couple weeks back before I went on maternity leave papa panda and I visited Maria - owner of Josiah Amari in Camden’s Hawley Wharf, as we knew it would be sometime til we could come down next with our twin pandas due any day now.

Our online webshop is now closed for maternity leave BUT you can get your TLP clothing and a limited range of our homeware products (eg. candle sets) in-store with Maria!

If you’re stuck for things to do with the kids this summer hols, the new development at Hawley Wharf has a huge offering of shops, restaurants and even a new arcade so we would definitely recommend you pop in this summer if you haven’t already 🤗

There are some who have air con and some who melted. I melted. How did you guys do with the heat?! 🫠

Whilst on the topic of melting, here are some TOP TIPS to staying cool during the heat wave:

- Close all windows and draw curtains/blinds to prevent the hot air from coming in
- Put a bowl of ice or cool water infront of your fan so it’ll blow cool air
- Hold your wrists under cool water tap for few seconds
- Fill a spray bottle with water and spray on arms/legs etc whenever you need a little spritz to cool off
- If going out during the day wear an appropriate SPF
- Most important of all, make sure you’re drinking more water than usual to keep on top of your mum’ing!
